John Cena's parents, Carol Cena and John Cena Sr. have big personalities to match their WWE Wrestler son. They have both been featured in various projects of his. The parents of five sons are no longer together.
Carol Cena filed for divorce from John Cena Sr. after 34 years of marriage. John Sr. shared the small screen with his son in a moving scene as a ringside spectator and a ring announcer with a WWE storyline.
He has a quirky line of merchandise for his alter ego, Johnny Fabulous. The family was not well off, but they became the hangout spot for the children in their small town when word got out about a spectacular snack the matriarch made.
John Cena's Mother, Carol Cena, Can Do a Cobra Clutch
Carol, credited for appearing in her son's self-titled works, was resourceful when raising her five sons. In the 2012 documentary "Once in a Lifetime: The Rock vs. John Cena," she spoke about what she had "come to know lovingly" as the "grilled-cheese game."
Growing up, John Jr. would bring groups of friends over for sports, or that is what they "portrayed it as," Carol mused, "I hope that is ultimately what it came out to be."
With limited resources, she began making them grilled cheese sandwiches. This was such a hit that the groups of five grew into groups of 20. In addition to her son's documentary with Dwayne Johnson, she appeared in "John Cena: Word Life" in 2004.
"Your poor mother," Kelly Clarkson commiserated with Carol on hearing she had five boys when John and his brother Daniel Cena came on her show in 2019. "Yeah, there is no other way to say it," John Jr. agreed, "My poor mom." The wrestler admitted that they were "not good kids." Daniel chimed in:
"Very aggressive."
Carol possibly gave insight into how she managed the house when she joined John Jr. in a Hefty commercial. She pulled a grocery store customer, considering a competitor, into a Cobra clutch. The mom of five advised him to save money with Hefty.
John Cena's Father Considers Professional Wrestling the 'Sport of Kings'
John Sr, born June 16, 1944, wrote on his website, "There has always been a spot in my heart for that sport of kings, professional wrestling." He has been involved in the sport as a spectator in nosebleed seats and as a ring announcer.
John Cena Sr was still emotional recounting the moment.
He adopted the persona Johnny Fabulous for "Chaotic Wrestling: Cold Fury 7." The announcer portrayed a version of himself for "WrestleMania XXX" and "WWE Raw" in storylines with John Jr, Lilián García, Adam Copeland, aka Edge, and Randy Orton.

John Cena and John Cena Sr. Shared a Touching Onscreen Hug after an Epic Bout
Although his screen time in the ring has quieted down, the elder Cena wants to keep entertaining fans and is "hopeful the saga of John Cena, Sr, and Johnny Fabulous will continue for many more years."
He aids this by selling Johnny Fabulous cigars, chocolate cigars, and branded cold-fashioned sodas. The entertainer has been a Justice of the Peace in Massachusetts for over 14 years.
After John Jr. defeated Edge during "2006 Unforgiven," he only wanted to celebrate with his father. The star felt he was the only person in the area cheering for him. "I just wanted to hug my dad," he said.
The embrace between father and son was captured by the cameras of the pay-per-view event. John Cena explained that it was a way to show his dad he loved him. In "WWE Untold," John Cena Sr. was still emotional recounting the moment.
