John Cena was born in West Newbury, Massachusetts, on April 23, 1977. His background is diverse as his mother has French-Canadian and English roots, while his father is of Italian descent.

While he is known to be the grandson of the famous baseball player Tony Lupien, Cena gained immense fame in the world of professional wrestling, particularly in World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE).

John Cena loves children, evident in his efforts to grant their wishes through the Make-A-Wish Foundation. In a January 2022 interview with Drew Barrymore, Cena shared his thoughts on having his own family. He said:

"It's hard work. It's hard work to balance the time I need to run myself correctly. It's hard work to be the best partner and husband I can be to my loving wife. It's hard to keep connections with those of my life."

While Cena has developed a fondness for children, he is in no rush to begin a family or become a father. He also revealed that he was unqualified to become a father.

The professional wrestler explained to Barrymore that he believed that being skilled at something was not a reason enough to pursue it. He said one should have "passion" and "fuel" for it.

Cena had expressed reluctance about having children. In 2016, Cena stated that he was stubborn, selfish, and had no interest in getting married or having children. At the time, he valued his independence and wants to live life on his terms.

John Cena and his wife, Shay Shariatzadeh, have been happily married for over two years. He and his wife secretly tied the knot in October 2020 in Tampa, Florida, after they started dating in 2019.

The couple's relationship has blossomed over time; from Cena's initial reservations about having children, he is now becoming more open to the idea. A source reportedly said that Cena "feels wiser" and is more prepared to face future fatherhood responsibilities with Shariatzadeh by his side.

The source's statement was also the same sentiment Cena had shared in 2021, where he said he is now "a little bit older, a bit wiser." He has realized the beauty of life and the significance of being a parent.

Before settling down with Shariatzadeh, Cena was first married to Elizabeth Huberdeau for three years and divorced in 2012. He was also formerly engaged to TV personality and pro wrestler Nikki Bella.

Bella and Cena called off their engagement in 2018 after dating for six years, primarily due to differences concerning starting a family. Despite their split, they continue to hold love and respect for one another.
