This Girl Dislikes Cats Because She Went Hungry Due to One — She Holds a Record 37 World & Olympic Medals to Date
- This little girl wondered "where the heck" her food was while a stray cat was being nourished by her mom.
- She recently made history when she topped a long-standing record this October.
- The sports star made the first move on her partner.
It is not unheard of for children with many siblings to feel competitive with each other about food, but this hungry girl had good reason to feel resentful about a cat's steady diet. Growing up, she remembers how focused she and her siblings were on food because there was not much of it to go around.
"I remember there was this cat around the house," she said, "and I would be so hungry, and they would feed this cat. I would be like, 'Where the heck is my food?'" She added:
"And I think that's where it stems, why I don't like cats, it's because of this freakin' street cat. She always fed it, but she never fed us."
During that time, her mother was drinking heavily and doing drugs. On the concerns of the neighbors, a social worker eventually intervened.
The girl and her younger sister were placed in foster care until they were eventually adopted by their grandparents. Their grandfather's sister adopted their two older siblings.
Their circumstances made the siblings very close and protective of each other. The little girl was maternal with her youngest sister, who interpreted the attention as "bossy" when she was younger but could see in hindsight that her big sister was "protecting" her.
A daycare field trip would be a second turning point in her life. The class was taken to a gymnastics gym when the planned activity was rained out. She had a lot of fun imitating the bigger girls in the gym, and the trainers took notice.
The trainers sent a letter inviting the six-year-old to join the sport. When her adopted mom asked if she wanted to take up the sport, she said, "Sure."
The youngster was the smallest and "bounciest" kid in the class, which frustrated her. She could not yet appreciate how much faster she progressed in the sport than her peers.

Simone Biles Made a Spectacular Comeback after a Case of The "Twisties"
Simone Biles is the girl whose biological mother took better care of a stray cat than her kids. The Olympian said that being placed with her grandparents "set me up for a better route at life, and I feel that I would not be where I am unless that turning point happened."
"I would still be Simone Biles," she mused. However, she would not have been the world-renowned Simone Biles, who won all the championships. She sees this as her second chance at life.
On Sunday, October 8, 2023, Biles surpassed Larisa Latynina of the former Soviet Union to become the most decorated female gymnast in history. She picked up two gold medals for the balance beam and floor exercise at the 2023 Gymnastics World Championships in Antwerp, Belgium.
Biles was also awarded silver for the vault event earlier in the competition. This brought her combined Olympic and World Championship medals to 37.

"I had to prove to myself that I could still get out here, twist, I could prove all the haters wrong that I'm not a quitter, this, that, the other," the champion said after the incredible feat. She concluded:
"As long as I'm out there twisting again, having and finding the joy for gymnastics again, who cares?"

The athlete experienced the "twisties" during the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. This phenomenon occurs when gymnasts feel disorientated when doing moves in the air.
She prioritized her mental health and withdrew from most of her events in the Olympics. Later in the games, she completed the vault with a modified routine, earning a bronze medal.

Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, her parents, who have been to every competition, could not attend. It was the longest she and her then-boyfriend, Houston Texans footballer Jonathan Owens, had been apart. The "proud" boyfriend said:
"When you're used to everything going right for so long, and all of a sudden you kind of hit a hiccup in your performance, you kind of get down on yourself, kind of lose confidence. And that was kind of one of the things I was trying to make sure ... keep her positive."

In October 2021, Biles admitted on a morning show that she was "still scared to do gymnastics." She said she would not change how things went down in Tokyo, as she thinks "everything happens for a reason."
After her incredible comeback in 2023, she admitted she also had doubts when responding to a social media user who wrote that many did not think she would return.
Simone Biles Slid into DMs to Find Her Man and Wedding Dress
Two years into her courtship with Jonathan Owens, he popped the question in an elaborate proposal in February 2022. For the Texan native, it was "the easiest yes."
The pair nearly met at one of his games in 2019, but the world champ introduced herself over the celebrity dating app Raya in March 2020. On April 22, 2023, she declared that she was "officially Owens," sharing snaps of their courthouse ceremony.
Her hair was done in a ponytail, in line with the playful ruffles of her low-back white gown. The groom wore a tan suit, an open-neck white shirt, and white loafers.
A few weeks later, on May 6, the couple said their 'I dos" a second time before 144 guests in Cabo, Mexico. Vogue shared footage of when they followed Biles to her final dress fitting on the day. She quipped at the beginning of the clip:
"I found my dress in the DMs, [and] I found my future husband in the DMs!"
The Galia Lahav team reassured the petite sports star that she could wear a ballgown silhouette with a clever design trick. "The leg slit was very crucial," she explained. "It was to add, in my head, more length to my body."
