Sam Neill has been open about his ongoing cancer battle and has recently shared pictures of his daunting journey of the disease. The veteran star also touched on death.

Neill is battling stage three blood cancer and recently revealed that his latest batch of chemotherapy failed to have much effect on the disease. This means that he is currently fighting for his life.

However, a new experimental drug is now used to fight off his non-Hodgkin blood cancer, angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma. Sadly, doctors told him that this particular drug will eventually run its course, and he said he is "prepared" for the worst, adding:

'I'm not in any way frightened of dying. That doesn't worry me. It's never worried me from the beginning, but I would be annoyed. I'd be annoyed because there are things I still want to do. Very irritating, dying. But I'm not afraid of it."

The actor reportedly shared a photo of him undergoing chemotherapy and could barely be recognized without his usual hair and beard. He admitted there have been times in the past year when he looked at himself in the mirror and "I wasn't a pretty sight," adding, "I was stripped of any kind of dignity."

Neill Is Less Interested in His Condition and Told Fans Not to Worry about Him

Neill previously revealed in an Instagram post that his cancer was in remission. In March 2023, he told his fans not to worry about his health because he is still alive and well.

The "Jurassic Park" star's comments came after news that he was writing about his battle with cancer in an autobiography titled "Did I Ever Tell You This?" which created a buzz in the media.

Neill explained that he only started writing the memoir, which also features his five-decade-long career so that he could have something to get him through each day. He also disclosed the disease had been in "remission for eight months."

Most recently, Neill said in an interview that his fight with cancer is not much of an interest to him. He asked why he should spend time researching about the disease when he could be doing something else, adding:

Neill was diagnosed with cancer in March 2022 and shared his reaction, saying he thought, "I'm crooked, I'm dying." He first experienced swollen glands while promoting the movie, "Jurassic World Dominion," at the time in which he stars alongside Laura Dern.

Three months into chemotherapy, the treatment stopped working as the tumor grew. The doctors then tried a rare anti-cancer drug, which worked.

In a March 2023 interview, Neill admitted he had had some "dark moments" following a cancer diagnosis. However, he also said this daunting experience has made him more appreciative of his life daily, and he is grateful for his friends, too.

Overall, the 76-year-old New Zealand native's cancer has reportedly been in remission for 12 months and will need infusions every two weeks forever.
