Michael Caine Planned to Move Houses to Be Closer to Grandkids – His Real Estate Portfolio & Lifestyle with Wife of 50 Years

Take a glimpse into British film icon Michael Caine's property portfolio, including his family home with his wife, kids, and grandkids. The veteran star recently revealed that he is retiring.
The award-winning English actor first rose to prominence in the 1960s and appeared in over 100 movies. He starred in "The Italian Job" (1969) and the "Batman" trilogy and recently revealed he has retired following the release of his final film, "The Great Escaper." He stars alongside John Landing and Will Fletcher in the movie.
In a recent interview with BBC Radio, the beloved 90-year-old announced that he is retiring. The film star, who has teased retirement several times, admitted:
"I keep saying I'm going to retire. Well, I am now."
Throughout the years, Michael and his beautiful wife, Shakira Caine, 76, owned several homes, some of which the longtime couple has sold off already.
Inside Michael's Property Portfolio
The Hollywood star sold his mansion on Davies Drive in Beverly Hills, California, in the mid-1990s, The abode, which was under construction in 1984, had a large L-shaped couch, where Michael sat in the picture below taken in April 1984. The home also had a study with vaulted ceilings, a box television, and a bar area with wooden paneling.

The outdoor area has a backyard with a view. There's also a spacious terrace with a lawn and a garden in the front of the house. In December 1992, Michael was pictured in a tall wingback chair by the pool area.

The "Tenet" star also sold his apartment in South Point Drive, Miami Beach, for a reported $.7.45 million in 2017. Initially, he had listed it for rental or purchase in June of that year at an $8.7 million selling price or a $29,000 per month rental option, but he eventually sold it later on in December.
Built in 2008, the abode sits on a 22-story building with 67 residences, all with private elevator entry. The four-bedroom unit spans 4,154 square feet and has 2,440 square feet of exterior space. It has a media room and water views with a summer kitchen. Michael reportedly purchased the apartment for $4.07 million in 2008.

Michael and Shakira also once owned a family country home, Keston Lodge, in Surrey, England. In 2021, the property was reportedly worth $5 million, and it features a leisure complex including an indoor swimming pool, hot tub, gym area, and a state-of-the-art cinema. The primary bedroom has two en-suites.
Outdoors, the seven-bedroom mansion, which is 12,000 square feet, boasts eight acres of landscaped gardens, a paddock, and two separate two-bedroom cottages.

The couple reportedly purchased the estate in 1999 for $1.2 million and had lived in it for over twenty years. It was big enough to accommodate the world-famous movie star and his family, including two daughters and three grandchildren. However, Michael and Shakira listed the abode on the market in January 2019 for $4.5 million. They officially sold it in 2022.
Michael had another property in London where he lived during the 1960s, a period when he made some of his most well-known films to date. It was a four-bedroom home in Albion Close, Hyde Park, which was initially two mews houses but has since been merged.
The house features oak flooring, a designer kitchen, and bespoke closet space. The primary bedroom has a walk-in closet and each bedroom either has an en-suite or a shower room. The three-story abode, which the English native reportedly put on the market for $6 million, also has a library and a study area on the first floor.
In 2020, the "Going in Style" star's former 17th-century country house in Oxfordshire was put on the market for $8.4 million. Well-known as Rectory Farm House, the Grade II listed property sits on 200 yards of the River Thames frontage.

The estate boasts six bedrooms and four bathrooms, including six grand reception rooms, a study, a library, a cinema room, a light-filled kitchen/breakfast room, and an inner hall.
Other features included vaulted ceilings, wooden paneling, wooden beams, original stone, and large windows. There is an indoor swimming pool, a spa, changing rooms, and a sauna.
The exterior features of the abode include a tennis court, a lake, ponds, a cut flower garden, an orchard, and a cottage, which has a sitting room, a bedroom, and a bathroom on the ground floor.

In an October 2021 interview, Michael revealed that he and his wife would be moving from their family home to a smaller residence as all their grandkids have left the nest:
"They're all growing up. So, I'm going to move back to be nearer to them, where it's easier for them to visit. I'm going to move to Wimbledon."

The father of two, who was raised in an attic with no hot water and one outdoor toilet, owns a flat in Chelsea Harbour, West London, where he currently lives with Shakira. It is a mixed-use development situated in the Sands End area along Chelsea Creek.

The star, who, as a child, lived in Berkshire and rural Norfolk with one of the homes having a fireplace, divulged in a September 2023 interview that he likes the security and tolerates the helicopters.

Michael & Shakira Have Been Married for Five Decades
Michael is currently in his second marriage. His first union was to English actress Patricia Haines, whom he was married to from 1954 to 1958. They had one child, a daughter, Dominique, born in 1956.
The "Zulu" star, then 38, later met his now second wife Shakira in the '60s after seeing her in a coffee commercial. Back in the day, the Academy Award winner was called a "ladies' man," though he said he was not.

Michael married fashion model Shakira in January 1973, the same year their only child, daughter Natasha, was born. The pair have been husband and wife for 50 years and make public appearances from time to time.
In May 2021, they were pictured low-key strolling around London in matching black outfits as Michael, who could be seen using his cane, held on to his wife.

The lovebirds were spotted in similar looks a year later, in January 2022. They went on a walk in the streets of London as Michael was photographed steadily holding onto Shakira.
Later that year, in November, the family patriarch and the Guyanese native were spotted during a night out at Harry's Bar in central London and were dressed formally for the date night.
