Danny Javier's Cause of Death: He Survived Health Challenges in the Past
Danny Javier, a renowned singer from the Philippines, deeply loved creating music that was true to his roots. He passed away in 2022, and the cause of his death left his family and friends heartbroken.
A pivotal figure in the APO Hiking Society, a musical ensemble renowned for their timeless Filipino compositions, Danny Javier's career flourished amid his ongoing health struggles.
In a previous interview, the celebrated musician candidly expressed his surprise upon learning about a medical condition he had carried unknowingly for most of his life.
A Heart-related Illness Was One Of Danny's Health Issues
Throughout his life, Danny faced several health challenges, many of which he regarded as near-death experiences. In a 2015 interview, he recalled that at 21 years old, he had pneumonia, a disease that affects the lungs.
The illness resurfaced in June 2011, prompting Danny to admit himself to the hospital due to the familiarity of the symptoms and the pain he experienced. He found himself surrounded by at least eight doctors at his bedside.
Later, a physician told him he had a ten percent chance of survival, especially after he was diagnosed with sepsis, a condition in which the body's immune system reacts severely to an infection.
Danny's diagnosis was a result of his multiple conditions in the past, which include kidney failure, pneumonia, and emphysema. He also revealed another illness he had at that time:
"I did not know that I had congestive heart failure for one year. I have such a high tolerance for pain I didn't know something was hurting, and then all of this was neatly wrapped in ribbon by sepsis."
With the diagnosis, the singer contemplated the possibility of death and desired to face it in his own way. His children were by his side during his hospital stay, and his friend and APO Hiking Society member Boboy Garrovillo visited him.
Eventually, Danny was discharged from the hospital after eleven days with some limitations on his activities and dietary restrictions. Remarkably, Danny made a full recovery.
Danny Passed Away From Cardiac Arrest
Danny passed away at the age of 75. His sister, Second District Representative in Leyte, Philippines, Lolita Karen Javier, confirmed his passing with a heartfelt tribute on her Facebook page.
While her father may no longer be with them, Justine hoped that Danny's legacy would persist through stories, songs, and endless conversations with those who loved his music.
In Lolita's post, she expressed relief that her brother would feel no more pain and that he could "laugh and sing in heavenly peace." She thanked him for the beautiful memories they shared and the music he created.
She did not disclose her brother's cause of death on her page, but their brother, George, revealed to ABS-CBN that Danny passed away from cardiac arrest at the National Kidney Transplant Institute, where he received treatment.
Danny's death was a loss in the music industry, and several artists shared their sadness on social media. Boboy said he felt the "loss of an old faithful friend" while their fellow member, Jim Paredes, shared a nostalgic photo of Danny from a past recording session with a note, "Till we meet again, Bro."
The vocal group, The CompanY, expressed their condolences and shared a video of their memories with Danny. Meanwhile, acclaimed singer Lea Salonga paid tribute to the late artist and thanked him for his beautiful music.
Danny's Daughter Hopes That His Legacy Will Endure
Born in August 1947 in Abuyog, Philippines, Danny ventured into acting, but he made a name for himself in music. He was a member of the APO Hiking Society, a revered group known for creating original Filipino music.
The musical group, which consists of Boboy and Jim, released several albums in Filipino. Their hit tracks include "Panalangin (Prayer)," "Ewan (Don't Know)," and "Batang-Bata Ka Pa (You're Still Young)."
Danny has four children–Justine, Juliene, Jobim, and Jamael. His daughter Justine expressed gratitude to those who pay respects to her father in person and on social media.
While her father may no longer be with them, Justine hoped that Danny's legacy would persist through stories, songs, and endless conversations with those who loved his music.
Justine's father was among other talented individuals who were proud of his musical achievements to the public. Similarly, younger artists with Filipino origins, like Olivia Rodrigo, Vanessa Hudgens, Hailee Steinfeld, and Conrad Ricamora, continue to leave their mark on the global stage.
