The actor won a Daytime Emmy for his role as Nikolas Cassadine in "General Hospital." He played the character in the long-running soap opera several times from 1996 to 2016. His performance also earned him four Daytime Emmy nominations.
Christopher's representative, Chi Muoi Lo, is shocked by the actor's death. He eulogized the soap opera star as a gifted actor and incredible friend. Lo sent his love to all the friends and family who cherished Christopher so much.
Maurice Benard, a friend and co-star of Christopher, has also mourned him. The actor has lost a sweet soul and a wonderful friend. Benard said in a post on Instagram that Christopher passed away after a cardiac event in his San Diego apartment.
Christopher has left behind two kids, a son, Greysun, 14, and a daughter, Boheme, 8. The actor got his kids with his second wife, Brienne Pedigo, whom he married in 2008, but they divorced in 2021. Christopher's first wife was Eva Longoria, whom he was married to from 2002 to 2004.
Christopher lived at Skid Row for two weeks and then decided he wasn't going to die there.
The actor adored his kids, who didn't live with him. Christopher was a guest on Benard's "State of Mind" series in May 2022, where he opened up about being a father to his kids. The actor used every opportunity he had with his son to connect with him, help him, and know if he was really okay. Christopher would also go to see his kids every month and stay with them for three days.
In 2023, Christopher revealed that his kids are following in his footsteps. Greysun and Boheme are both into acting in school, which the actor found to be cool. He noted that they both have the acting bug as Greysun took part in a play while Boheme acted in "The Nutcracker."
In the interview with Benard, Christopher also opened up about being homeless when he was starting life in Los Angeles. He shared how he was poor, hungry, sick, and so tired of being homeless that he asked God to take him.
Christopher's Homeless Life
When Christopher arrived in Los Angeles from Ohio by train, the actor called the man he was supposed to stay with, but when he picked up, he told Christopher, "I am sorry, but you can't come here." Christopher didn't know why the man ignored him.
The actor had no one else to call and was left stranded with no money, as he had been robbed in Chicago; his phone, credit cards, ATM, and wallet were all gone. So, he just picked up his suitcase and backpack and started walking. He had no food, water, or a place to lay his head, so he continued walking.
When he finally looked up from walking, he realized he was at Skid Row, an area whose inhabitants were poor and homeless. "So that's where I lived," noted Christopher. Christopher lived at Skid Row for two weeks and then decided he wasn't going to die there.
He started walking endlessly again and ended up at Hollywood and Vine, which wasn't a great area, but he stayed there for a few days. Again, he decided if he was going to die; he didn't want to die there, and he started walking all the way to Toluca Lake. When the actor got there, he found a bench and stayed there for four days, ate from the trash, and spoke to other homeless people.
At this point, Christopher had his computer but had lost its charger. He used the internet of a nearby Starbucks to send his one dear friend a message of his location, asking him to come and save him. The actor had given up after he sent the message and three days later his friend hadn't come. He lay on the bench and felt like his body was giving up.
Christopher just begged God to take him then, but then, surprisingly, five minutes later, his friend showed up in a car and saved him. He got the actor a hotel room where he stayed for three days until he got a place to live.
The actor was living in San Diego at the time of his death. Christopher enjoyed the Malibu sunsets, had many friends, attended church and theatre, and was happy. He once wrote on an Instagram post that he was "Grateful to be home."
Christopher brought joy to many people when he was alive through his incredible acting. He cherished his work and made sure to share happiness through his performances. Christopher will now be missed by his family, friends, and many fans.
