Freddie Simpson's Brief Acting Career

Born in Kentucky, Simpson grew up active in sports. She used to play baseball with her father and eventually switched to softball as it was what her school provided at the time. Despite receiving a volleyball scholarship to college, she considers baseball her best sport.

With her notable height and blonde hair, Simpson's life changed when she signed a modeling contract with John Casablancas after a chance encounter. This journey led her to Paris and eventually to Hollywood, where she pursued acting in Los Angeles.

Under renowned coach Roy London's guidance, Simpson impressed during a tryout, showcasing her skills in both baseball and acting. This success paved the way for her role as shortstop-pitcher Ellen Sue Gotlander in the 1992 film "A League of Their Own."

She appeared in the classic movie alongside Geena Davis, Lori Petty, Tom Hanks, Madonna, Rosie O'Donnell, Megan Cavanagh, Tracy Reiner, Bitty Schram, Ann Cusack, and Anne Ramsay.

Simpson went on to feature in the television adaptation of the film in 1993. Though it's unclear when she stepped back from the industry, her final credited film was "Short" in 2002.

However, in 2016, she was spotted at a reunion with her co-stars in Arkansas as part of Davis' 2nd Annual Bentonville Film Festival (BFF). During the event, they played baseball alongside veteran pitcher Gina Casey.

Simpson expressed that while "healers" typically avoid getting involved in such circumstances, her experience changed her. "It made me engage on a more heartfelt level," she said.

Simpson worked at a spa close to where the rally's incident occurred that resulted in Heather Heyer's death. James Alex Fields Jr., the reported suspect, was found guilty of Heyer's death and was sentenced to life in prison.

Even though she didn't participate in the rally, Simpson assisted those impacted by the event by providing free services like community acupuncture and mindfulness and meditation classes to foster healing.

In the video, she used sign language to greet its viewers and show support for using the American Sign Language (ASL). Her sign language read: "Hi, my name is Freddie. I support ASL."

Surrounding the video were her old pictures of herself dressed as her character in "A League of Their Own." The page also features celebrities communicating in American Sign Language.
