According to a news outlet, the duo met at one of Diaz's barbeques. Madden had attended the event with his brother, Joel, and friend, Nicole Richie. Since their relationship started, Diaz and Madden have been going strong, and of her husband, she gushed:

In 2019, the lovebirds became first-time parents when they welcomed Raddix on December 30. Last year, while sitting down for an interview to discuss her previous break from acting, business ventures, and family life, the concept of motherhood came up. After being asked if motherhood changed her, the interviewer asked what "The Holiday" star enjoys most about being a mom, to which Diaz answered:

"I think just being able to, you know, have influence on a child that's developing, you know? All mothers have that moment where you're watching your child, and they're doing something the first time, and you're like, 'I remember doing that!' It's really cool!"

Madden was seen rocking a black hoodie, baseball cap, and loosely fitted pants, while his wife opted for a slightly more chic-causal style with a black button-down shirt, black pants, glasses, green Birkenstocks, and a bag to the value of $1,490. Little Raddix wore a one-piece white outfit and Spiderman sneakers.

Pictures from the day show moments where Diaz held onto her daughter, who was wrangling in her arms after having just kicked off one of her shoes. Reports also stated that Raddix appeared to be full of energy and was seen running around at one point.

When people saw the family on their outing, they had a lot to say, specifically about Raddix's behavior. In fact, the outing sparked a division among the public, with some being able to relate to the parents' plight of having an energetic child and others not being so forgiving.

Despite the barrage of comments implying something was amiss with the situation, others came to Diaz's defense as a mother. One fan stated:
