It has been several months since Irish musical legend Sinéad O'Connor passed away unexpectedly last year. New information concerning the cause of her death has since been revealed and reported on by news outlets.

According to a news source, this past Tuesday, British authorities clarified that O'Connor's death was a result of natural causes. The news comes after police officials, who received an alert concerning an unresponsive woman in a home, found O'Connor dead when they arrived.

Now that the cause of death is public knowledge, a London Southwark Coroner's spokesperson confirmed that "the coroner has...ceased their involvement in her death." Before her demise, O'Connor, whose teenage son, Shane Lunny, took his own life in 2022, had struggled with suicidal ideation. She previously posted a video on her social media account from a motel room in New Jersey in which she addressed this.

Following the video, and after sitting down for a candid interview with Dr. Phil in 2017, the TV host opened up about the struggles the late "Troy" singer was going through. In this regard, he said: "She says she attempted suicide eight times in one year, and that's a dangerous numbers game. So I was very concerned for her wellbeing."

Aside from the suicide attempts Dr. Phil spoke about, reports stipulate that the iconic artist had previously claimed to have overdosed in 2015 and was reported missing in Wilmette, Illinois, a year later before police found her.

Luckily, Dr. Phil was able to assist in getting O'Connor the help she so desperately needed: "We were able to, in 24 hours, get her out of a motel room alone in the middle of the night crying to a hundred-acre treatment facility..."

In the same interview, she also addressed her traumatic past with her late mother. Although O'Connor sadly passed away, she managed to accomplish her desire to be a teaching tool for those who are not in a healthy mental state and may be suicidal with her impactful and intimate interview with Dr. Phil.
