Patrick Swayze’s Widow Keeps His Memory Alive as She Shares Rare Photo of the Actor with His Mom
Patrick Swayze's widow keeps his memory alive with a rare photo of the late star and his mom. Fans who saw the post thanked Lisa Niemi for the picture.
Lisa Niemi paid tribute to her late mother-in-law on what would've been her 94th birthday. The widow took to her Instagram to post an endearing black-and-white image that showed Patsy Swayze dancing with her and her son.
Lisa's heartwarming caption spoke about Patsy's powerful impact on her dance students and mentioned how people recognized Patrick because he was Patsy's son. She also highlighted how proud the dance teacher was to be the "Dirty Dancing" star's mother.
The public praised Lisa for the picture she shared and took notice of the striking resemblance between Patrick and his mom. One fan gushed, "This is a great photo 🥰🥹 thanks for sharing. He was so like his mam!"
Similarly, another fan said, "Lisa, it is so special to share with us and keep them in the present with your memories xo." Someone else expressed, "Thank you for continuing to share Patrick's memory with us ❤️."
Last year, Lisa opened up about her late husband's legacy and life in an interview. Of Patrick, who sadly died from pancreatic cancer, Lisa disclosed, "He did not want to become the poster boy for cancer [..] He had such a huge, full life and so many things that he did. But he had such a huge heart. We were married for 34 years."
Lisa also discussed how hard Patrick fought his illness and how she felt having to witness him going through an incredibly challenging time. On this, she shared, "He really was a hero. I saw the man I knew he always wanted to be, which was courageous, truly courageous, humble, loving, determined, strong."
More than four years after Patrick passed away, Lisa found love again with jeweler Albert DePrisco. After dating for some time, Albert popped the question, and Lisa spoke about the internal conflict she went through due to her everlasting love for Patrick.
In a past interview, she divulged, "I found myself grappling with my feelings of having been married to Patrick for 34 years! Privately, I flipped, I flopped. Yes, get married, no, don't get married. Albert knew I still loved Patrick and would always love him, and told me, 'And I know you love me, and I love you.' How could I not marry this man?"
She also mentioned how a dream she had of Patrick signified that the late actor had given her his blessing. She went further to explain, "Again, it can be hard sometimes to take those steps forward, but it doesn't change the way we feel about someone. He was letting me know that."
Lisa Niemi and her beloved jeweler spouse, whom she met through mutual friends, tied the knot in 2014 and will soon celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary.
