On the afternoon of February 25, Kingston enjoyed lunch with his parents at their home. Following the meal, his father left to walk the dogs, only to return and discover Kingston missing from the house. Approximately 30 minutes later, Kingston's mother set out to search for him.

As time passed, Kingston's father decided to investigate further. After failing to reach his son, he broke into a locked outbuilding. Inside, Kingston lay badly injured, with a firearm nearby. Emergency services rushed to the scene, but despite their efforts to save him, he died.

"He found Mr. Kingston deceased with a catastrophic head injury. A gun was present at the scene. Emergency services were called. Police are satisfied the death is not suspicious," stated senior coroner Katy Skerrett in the court.

Dr. Jones, a consulting histopathologist, has carried out a post-mortem examination. The doctor gave an initial diagnosis suggesting that a severe head injury was the cause of death.

"Having been satisfied with identification, the initial cause of death, and the brief circumstances surrounding Mr. Kingston's death, I can formally open this inquest. I now adjourn it to a date to be fixed. That concludes the opening of the inquest into the death of Thomas Henry Robin Kingston," the statement concluded.
