Did you know that Nicolas Cage is already a grandpa? And his grandsons are adorable

Not many people know that the actor is a grandfather to two boys from his eldest son, Weston Cage. The boys' names are Lucian and Sorin, and their mother is Danielle.

Nicolas almost didn't get to become a grandfather as his son, Weston, struggled a lot in his first marriage. According to Weston, the birth of his first child is what kept him going.

Nicolas Cage, 53, became a first-time grandparent in 2015 when his then-25-year-old son, Weston, welcomed a baby boy with his wife, Danielle.

While he plays tough guys in movies, Cage, who is 59 today, is known to be a pushover regarding his grandchild. He has said that he loves every second of being a grandfather and was excited to welcome his grandchildren, Lucian and Sorin.

When asked what his favorite thing about being a grandfather was, Cage said it was seeing them smile. He also opened up about his children, saying:

"I always want to be there to support my kids in all the wonderful things they do."

As many great things as Cage has to say about his children and grandchild, his son is proud to call him his father and says he is a phenomenal grandfather.

Since the child's birth, Weston has posted several photos of him on social media, showing how adorable he is. The birth of Lucian changed the direction of Weston's life. Cage said: "It's always great to have my family with me wherever I go and whenever I can."

It's a huge contrast from the dramatic headlines that used to follow Nicolas Cage's elder son. There were headlines about a bloody fight with Weston's former trainer and a messy divorce from his ex Nikki Williams.

In late May 2016, Cage became a grandparent for the second time when his son and his wife welcomed their second son, Sorin. Weston made the announcement on Facebook and posted the sweetest photo to introduce his baby boy to the world.

Weston even mentioned that his son had saved his and his partner's lives, and they were grateful that they were blessed to be his parents at the time.

"It got to the point where people thought I was digging my grave," he told "People" at the time about his journey to sobriety. Weston used to drink multiple cases of beer, a box of wine, and hard liquor, and he took pills throughout a single day at his lowest point.

He quit alcohol cold-turkey when he landed in the hospital in 2012 after suffering from severe withdrawal. At the time, his first marriage to Williams was ending, and Cage met Danielle shortly after through mutual friends.

Danielle told "People" at the time that when she met him, he was on his way to sobriety. She revealed that she could see that he was trying hard to make his marriage work even though he wasn't being appreciated.

Danielle's first advice to him was that he needed someone who would love him as much as he loved them. The pair tied the knot in England in 2013, and they now live a low-key life with Lucian and Sorin in Los Angeles.

Danielle further revealed before Sorin's birth that spending time with both of them was peaceful. She said they could be doing anything, and as long as they're doing it together, it would be perfect.

Weston added that he wanted Lucian to know what real guitar playing was. The then father of one had played Spanish music for Lucien, and they would spend time having skin-to-skin contact and listening to flamenco music.

Weston, who is estranged from his mother, Christina Fulton, kept close contact with his father. Cage told "People" that his son was a total artist and could compose music, sing, act, sculpt, cook and be a loving father.

The actor said at the time that seeing his son with his grandson was the closest thing to a sense of blissful completion. Weston said that the easiest part of staying sober was him wanting to be the best for his family.

He gushed that creating a beautiful person with the woman he loved and to see their first son being a natural older brother was something his heart would forever stay ablaze in euphoria for.

Weston had previously told "ET Online" that his father was a "brilliant" grandparent. He said he believed that a lot of the morals and philosophies that he would teach to his son came from his father.

Weston shared this after Lucian was born, and he also revealed that Cage was an amazing father to him. He also had another child, Kal-El, with his third wife, Alice Kim.
