The 56-year-old lawmaker's romance has set social media abuzz, with some netizens stunned by how closely the new woman in his life resembles his famous ex.

Stepping away from politics for a moment, U.S. Senator Cory Booker gave the public something far more intimate on September 2, 2025 — a deeply personal post about his partner, Alexis Lewis, and the future awaiting them.

"I'm thrilled to share: Alexis and I are engaged! I am savoring the soul-affirming wonder of everyday life with my partner, best friend, and now my fiancée," he partly wrote on Instagram.

The senator described Lewis as nothing less than a profound blessing, crediting her with helping him grow, find peace, and finally embrace a sense of home. His intimate message was of gratitude, love, and emotional grounding.

Shortly after going public, Booker's announcement, paired with several engagement photos, swept across social media, sparking a storm of reactions.

On Instagram, fans rushed to shower the couple with affection. One admirer gushed, "She has a spectacular smile," while another celebrated, "Congratulations! Wishing you both a lifetime of love and happiness!🙌🍾❤️."

A third couldn't resist noting Lewis's poised appearance, "Total First Lady vibes - just sayin [sic]," while another stirred chatter, "Congratulations…but you definitely have a type…literally thought she was Rosario!" referring to Booker's ex, actress Rosario Dawson.

But the applause wasn't universal. Over on Facebook, one skeptic sneered, "That a [sic] wedding band? I don't see a rock." Another mocked, "The engagement ring has no stone and is that a 6th toe on homegirl's right foot?" Someone else chimed in, "Is it me, but that doesn't look like an engagement ring? Lol."

Even Booker's romantic history was dragged into the fray. "Sir, you must have really loved Rosario because you went and got yourself a near replica 🤣 WOW!" wrote one observer. Another echoed, "She kinda look like Rosario... Guess he couldn't get over her."

As social media buzzed with observations, Dawson herself stepped into the conversation. On Booker's post, the "Sin City" star, who dated him for more than two years, commented, "Love Love! Congratulations you two! ❤️❤️"

In the past, Booker and Dawson were red-carpet regulars and a picture-perfect pair at public events. Now, as a new chapter with Lewis begins, see how the story has unfolded through the years.
