T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach Announce Their Engagement – Details
T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach are officially headed down the aisle, capping off a year of headlines, scrutiny, and a very public romance with news of their engagement.
Former "GMA3" co-anchors T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach have announced their engagement, over a year after their romance made headlines and led to their exit from ABC News.
The couple revealed the news during an episode of their podcast, "Amy & T.J.," confirming they’ve been engaged. Robach said, "We are sharing with all of you that we are engaged, and we've been engaged for just about a month now."
Holmes added that the decision to speak publicly came after lessons learned from their past. They wanted to let everybody know the news because they've realized keeping things a secret have not done them any good.
The happy couple also let everybody know that despite only making the announcement now, they’d been celebrating with family behind the scenes since it happened.
While they haven't been keeping their engagement a secret, they’ve also been careful about how they chose to announce it to the world.
Robach shared that there was a photo she had considered posting online, but ultimately held back because her engagement ring was visible. She didn't want the attention to shift to the ring and the engagement before they were ready to talk about it.
Their relationship became public in late 2023, prompting an internal investigation at ABC News. The couple made their relationship Instagram official on November 1, 2023, and launched their joint podcast, "Amy & T.J.," just over a month later, on December 5.
The network later parted ways with both anchors, who had been off the air since early December of that year. The probe looked into whether their relationship violated company policy.
Holmes, who joined ABC News in 2014, began co-anchoring "GMA3" in 2020. Robach, with the network since 2012, joined the same program in 2020 as well.
During the podcast, Robach said she had worn her engagement ring in public several times, hoping someone would notice. "I was in three massive football stadiums three weekends in a row wearing my engagement ring very proudly, very excitedly, and kept waiting for somebody to point it out, or ask me 'hey, what's that?'"
Holmes suggested the silence may have come from those wanting to respect their privacy, saying even people close to them may have avoided the topic given all they had gone through.
Online reactions to their engagement have been mixed. Some fans were thrilled. One supporter wrote, "Wishing them happiness. Love 'The Morning Run' podcast and their charming, insightful delivery. GMA hasn't been as good without them." Another added, "About time he put a ring on it."
Others expressed skepticism. One user commented, "If he will do it with you, he will do it to you. Not betting on this one lasting. You can't build a strong foundation when you start with broken promises." Another echoed, "If they cheat with you, they'll cheat on you 🤔."
To mark the occasion privately, Holmes and Robach reportedly hosted an intimate gathering with close friends and family. According to Us Weekly, it was during this event that the couple officially announced they were engaged.
A source told the outlet that their upcoming wedding will be "small and intimate," with fewer than 100 guests expected. While the couple has yet to reveal a date, plans are underway for a 2026 wedding, with discussions around making it a destination celebration. "It would be more about sharing their vows and love," the insider shared, adding, "And they do plan on inviting their exes."
In an unexpected twist, their ex-spouses, actor Andrew Shue and attorney Marilee Fiebig, have also found love with each other. The new couple was first spotted on a date in New York City in March 2024.
They made their red carpet debut by December at the 2024 Grassroot Soccer World AIDS Day Gala in New York City.
News of their relationship surfaced in December 2023, just months after finalizing their respective divorces. By February 2025, it was reported that Shue and Fiebig had moved in together.

Despite the scrutiny and complicated history, Holmes and Robach are moving forward — this time, with wedding plans, family support, and their relationship firmly in the public eye.
