Celebrities Proud of Their Transgender Children
They faced whispers, headlines, and legal threats — but these famous parents chose love over silence, pride over shame, and protection over public approval.
In a world where gender identity remains a lightning rod for debate, these bold, high-profile parents made a choice: to fight for their transgender children, in the courtroom, in the press, and at home.
Some learned in quiet moments. Others went public in jaw-dropping interviews, emotional songs, and fiery legal petitions. But every single one showed the world what unshakable love really looks like.

Marlon and Jamie Wayans Find Their Son
For comedian Marlon, the moment his child came out as transgender sparked unexpected growth. "It took me all of a week, and in that week I grew the most that I ever did in my life," he told People in 2024. "The only thing that matters to me is that my child is happy."

Marlon now proudly calls Kai "my son," adding, "They just got a beard now." He also shared a story about the moment he taught Kai to drive — just like he did with his other son, Shawn. "Hey man, don't be driving five car lengths — that's only three," he would tell Kai.

Liev Schreiber and Naomi Watts Confirm the Truth They Always Knew
Liev and Naomi never needed a formal announcement from their daughter. "Kai was always who Kai is," Liev told Variety in May 2025. "But I suppose the most profound moment was her asking us to change her pronouns."

Though the shift was emotional, it wasn't shocking. "It didn't feel like that big of a deal to me, only because Kai had been so feminine for so long," Liev said. Still, his admiration runs deep. "Kai is such a fighter."

Robert de Niro Delivers a Masterclass in Unbothered Fatherhood
When Robert's daughter came out, he responded with signature bluntness. "I loved and supported Aaron as my son, and now I love and support Airyn as my daughter. I don't know what the big deal is," he stated.

Jamie Lee Curtis Learns with Her Daughter
Jamie's daughter Ruby texted her when she came out — it was too terrifying to do face-to-face. "It was scary — just the sheer fact of telling them something about me they didn't know," Ruby shared. "But I wasn't worried. They had been so accepting of me my entire life."

Sade's Song of Regret and Redemption
Izaak Theo Adu, son of singer Sade, began his transition in 2016. "I’ve always known that I was a boy," he said in 2021. But puberty, he admitted, was brutal. "Hell," he called it.

But his parents supported him all the way. "Both my mom and dad were like, just as long as you're happy, it doesn't matter who you are, just, you know, be who you want," he shared.

After hormone therapy and gender-affirming surgeries, Izaak reflected on the stakes. "I don't think I would be here," he said. In the years since, he's thrived — marrying his partner Emily in Hawaii and signing with a major modeling agency.

In 2024, Sade released a song that seemed to address her regrets. Izaak responded, "For many individuals who are transgender, coming out can be met with misunderstanding and, at times, rejection [...] I hope the song can offer a sense of comfort, validation, and a feeling of being seen and understood."
