Hollywood darling Douglas Booth has shared the devastating truth behind his father's sudden death — revealing his beloved dad, Simon Booth, tragically took his own life earlier this year.

In a raw and emotional Instagram tribute, posted on what should have been a joyful birthday celebration, the "Romeo and Juliet" and "Mary Shelley" actor laid bare the anguish he's been carrying since May, when his father died.

"Today would have been my dad's 64th birthday," Booth began, beneath a carousel of intimate family photos that captured tender moments between his father and his family. "On the 4th May this year, my dad tragically took his own life. I've struggled to find the words for this loss."

He spoke candidly of his father's personal struggles, revealing that Simon had lived with undiagnosed autism.

The Greenwich-born actor didn't hold back as he opened up about the painful unknowns that have haunted him since the shocking loss.

"There are questions I'll never have answers to," he admitted. "And I'm slowly learning to live with that. What I do know is that my dad was a gentle, kind, generous man, and he is deeply missed."

Describing Simon with unwavering warmth, the British actor's tribute painted a picture of a father dearly loved — and deeply mourned.

He then made a poignant pledge: to turn his personal grief into public good.

"In time, I want to find a way to turn this pain into something useful — to support and champion places that give men space to connect, talk, and feel understood," he wrote, calling attention to the silent epidemic of male mental health struggles.

Douglas, who has publicly battled anxiety himself, warned that men too often feel isolated and voiceless. "It isnt as simple as 'checking in' on the people you love [sic]," he said. "Sometimes they can't hear you, even when you're trying."

He spoke candidly of his father's personal struggles, revealing that Simon had lived with undiagnosed autism and found it difficult to adapt, especially as he grew older and lost the structure of daily work.

"Losing someone to suicide is a complex grief, and my heart is with anyone who has walked this path," Douglas shared. His message was a tribute not just to his father — but to all who suffer silently. "Happy Birthday Dad. I love and miss you. Always."
