The inaugural event was held at the California African-American Museum in Los Angeles.

Celebrities including Samuel L. Jackson, Octavia Spencer, Michelle Williams, Rep. Maxine Waters, Kelly Rowland, Debbie Allen and Mara Brock Akil were all in attendance.

They all came in their head-turning outfits, including Beyonce and Solange who came to support their mom.

Samuel L. Jackson, however, did not walk alone; he graced the event together with the love of his life, actress, and sports channel producer LaTanya Richardson.

Jackson and his wife of thirty-eight years both stole the show at the red carpet.

These two have come a long way and they are still waxing stronger.

The ‘Star Wars’ actor and LaTanya met while he was attending Morehouse college.

The couple got married in 1980 and they both share a daughter, Zoe who is now thirty-five-years-old.

Jackson and his wife started their own charitable organization to help support education in 2009.

Asides from other reasons, he has always said that she and her daughter helped him to ‘save himself.’
