Her divorce from Scharzenegger had sent shock waves around the world. Fans were shocked that the former actor cheated on his wife with the family's housekeeper named Mildred Patricia Baena, who is of a Guatemalan origin.
Mildren was employed by the family for 20 years.
Schwarzenegger, a Hollywood heavyweight, revealed he had fathered a child with Mildred, just a week after announcing he and Shriver were separating.
Shriver, who is a Kennedy scion, had been married to the former actor for 25 years.
The former politician said in a statement at the time of the controversy that he had told Shriver about his infidelity after leaving the governor's office.
"I understand and deserve the feelings of anger and disappointment among my friends and family. There are no excuses and I take full responsibility for the hurt I have caused," he said, as quoted by NY Daily News.
