Kerry Washington makes a rare public appearance with her parents proving she looks like her mom

The popular actress, in an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, revealed that she takes her birthdays as a time of gratitude.

Kerry:

'I send my parents a gift on my birthday because I feel like they did the heavy lifting, right? It's also a good excuse for me to send, like, inappropriate notes to my parents and they can’t say anything. I’m like: Thanks for getting it on.'

Her devotion to her parents doesn't stop there as she made a public appearance with them bringing them to a dinner held in her honor.

The 40-year-old actress dressed to impress in a dramatic floral dress on Saturday night at a dinner held in her honor.

She had her father Earl and mother Valerie as her dates to the party celebrating her October cover of Glamour magazine at Carbone in New York City.

She looked very elegant and had all eyes on her in a floral, drop-waist Marchesa dress, white Brian Atwood pumps and a purple clutch.

She had her hair pulled up in an elegant style to show off her Finn and Monique Pean rings.

Her real estate broker father, Earl, wore a black suit with dark gray shirt, while Valerie, a professor, looked lovely in a violet dress.

The party was specially hosted by Glamour editor-in-chief Cindi Lieve, and the Washingtons were joined by big names including Gayle King, Joy Bryant and fashion designers Atwood, Tory Burch and Jason Wu.

It was indeed a busy weekend for Washington who had spent Friday alongside Project Runway host Heidi Klum as a guest judge for the season finale of Lifetime reality show.

She was also spotted sitting front row for the Alexander Wang runway show at Pier 94, just in case you didn't know, Kerry graces the cover of the new issue of Glamour magazine.

She is indeed one beautiful woman and now we know just where she got all that from!
