Meghan Markle attended a forum with Prince Harry but her dress failed to impress
The soon-to-be royal received criticism after she showed up in a public outing with Prince Harry. Reportedly, people thought her dress was inappropriate.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry attended the Commonwealth Youth Forum in celebration of the Commonwealth on April 18, 2018, as shared by Meaww. The Kensington Palace also tweeted about the said appearance of the couple.
During the event, Markle opted to dawn a white-and-black pinstriped dress from Altuzarra. AOL reported that the estimated price of the dress is $1,995.
Upon entering the forum, Markle had a black Camilla and Marc blazer draped over her shoulder.
For her purse, she brought with her an Oroton crossbody, which she hung on her shoulder.
As she went inside, Markle decided to ditch the blazer and flaunt the sleeveless dress along with her arms and shoulders.
With the palace tweeting about the appearance, a few royal fans expressed their sentiments over Markle’s outfit choice.
Supposedly, for the royal enthusiasts, the ensemble was inappropriate for a royal-to-be.
Even Markle’s fans had something to say about the outfit.
One comment read, ‘Ok, I love Meghan but someone needs to pull her aside and tell her that she needs to stop thumbing her nose at proper styling for events she attends. Put the jacket back on. This is business, not a garden party.’
Another one claimed that a royal should never bare their shoulder in public.
Despite the critics, some were kind enough to defend their idol. In fact, one user asked what was so inappropriate about the dress.
Another one said that Markle has a unique style and she was just staying true to it. The user added that it was a good thing Markle didn’t wear a ‘grandma-like dress,’ seemingly pointed out that it is what most royals tend to wear in public.
