Cheryl Burke and Matthew Lawrence open up about their wedding

Cheryl Burke and Matthew Lawrence will tie the knot soon, and they're planning to do it on a private island in the Philippines.

The couple were engaged on May 3, a year after they rekindled their relationship.

Cheryl, 34, a Dancing With the Stars pro, was in a relationship with Matthew, 38, from February 2007 and February 2008. They first met in 2006, when Matthew's brother, Joey, competed on Dancing with the Stars.

Cheryl and Matthew got back together in early 2017.

The Boy Meets World actor popped the question to Cheryl while they were spending a holiday on Laguna Beach, California.

"I handed her this note that said, 'I will love you always and forever'," he recalled in an interview with Us Weekly Magazine. "'That's what's engraved in this ring - I want you to marry me'."

The wedding proposal took place inside a hotel room while they were watching the sunset.

"I had chills all over. It was perfect," Cheryl told Us Weekly.

Cheryl shared this romantic moment with her 432,000 followers on Instagram.

'OMG! So far so good for 34!' she captioned a photo of her showing off her diamond ring while her soon-to-be-husband kisses her on the cheek.

The couple are now gearing up for their wedding rites.

"We definitely want to get married as soon as possible. Originally we wanted to do a destination wedding, so we have different places we're eyeing," Cheryl said.

At the moment, they are seriously considering Amanpulo, a private island in the Philippines.

Cheryl, who was born in San Francisco, California, is of Filipino descent.

A dancer, model and TV host, Cheryl is best known for being one of the professional dancers competing on ABC's Dancing with the Stars.

She was the first female professional to win the show and the first to win twice and consecutively.
