Ellen DeGeneres' wife makes thrilling announcement about her career
Portia de Rossi surprise career renewal after her recently announced retirement
A week ago, Ellen DeGeneres' wife Portia de Rossi, 45, had announced her retirement from acting. De Rossi made the announcement on DeGeneres' show, but she said she would make an exception for Netflix's Arrested Development, reported ET Online.
The sitcom was first aired in 2003 and continued to 2006, then was reprised in 2013, and a new season has been announced for 2018.
De Rossi has been playing Lindsay Bluth from the beginning, and though she had declared she would not be acting anymore, the series creator Mitchell Hurwitz wrote her into the new season.
Hurwitz was right on the money, and de Rossi has said that 'Once a Bluth, always a Bluth'. She agreed to act on Arrested Development but is adamant that she is retired.
"I have to say I love Arrested Development so much, and if I wasn't a part of this season, I would be so sad."
De Rossi revealed on her wife' talk show that she is now focused on her involvement in art curation and developing a publishing company called General Public.
She explained that her decision had been made 18 months ago after she was written off Scandal. De Rossi informed the creator of Arrested Development and told him that she was quitting acting, and she would not participate in a possible season 5.
To de Rossi's surprise, Hurwitz wrote her into the new season, though he had seemed very understanding with regards to her decision.
Her character Lindsay Bluth will be running for office, and fans can expect a lot of new twists and turns in the Bluth family dynamics.
