Kate Spade's suicide note reportedly contains message for 13-year-old daughter
When Kate Spade was found dead it was initially reported that a suicide note was found. Now it has been revealed that the note was actually addressed to her daughter, Frances Beatrix.
The message encouraged the teenager to not blame herself for her mother’s death according to Daily Mail. It’s suspected that Kate committed suicide because of depression.
Kate Spade, 55, fell into a deep depression days before she committed suicide. The illness was caused by her husband, Andy Spade, wanting a divorce.
She hadn't wanted their 24-year marriage to be over according to the police. Andy had moved out of their home into a nearby apartment.
Multiple news outlets claimed earlier that the couple was 'having marital problems' according to sources close to the couple. Kate was found by a housekeeper hanged with a scarf attached to a bedroom doorknob in her Park Avenue home in Manhattan on Tuesday at 10:20 a.m.
She left a suicide note addressed to her daughter, Frances Beatrix, 13, lying beside her. The note blamed Andy for her death and asked the teenager not to blame herself.
Andy is the brother of actor and comedian David Spade. Kate was the aunt of Rachel Brosnahan, the star of Amazon's The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
'Bea - I have always loved you. This is not your fault. Ask Daddy!'

Andy was reportedly home at their Park Avenue apartment when Kate was found. Kate (née Brosnahan) got her start as an accessories editor at Mademoiselle magazine.
There she made her own line of sleek and simple nylon handbags in the early '90s. She and Andy launched her first collection together, combining their names for the brand's name.
The two married in 1994. The Spades later sold their company to Liz Claiborne, Inc., now called Kate Spade & Company.
Last year, Coach bought the Kate Spade Company for $2.4 billion. Kate Spade New York has over 140 retail shops and outlet stores across the US and more than 175 internationally.
Kate spent nearly a decade away from the industry to focus on family and philanthropy. She then launched a new fashion line called Frances Valentine, even changing her surname to Valentine to match the brand.
