'The Ranch' fans launch petition to keep central actor on the show
Danny Masterson had been axed on the Netflix show called The Ranch where he played a starring role. Fans have been petitioning to bring him back on the show amid the sexual allegations pressed against him.
Prior to the season premiere of the show’s latest installment, which was on June 15th, many avid fans made petitions to bring back the controversial actor, saying that he is innocent until proven guilty.
Masterson played the role of Jameson “Rooster” Bennett and was adored by the fans. In December 2017, he was forced to make an exit on the show.
He made headlines when he was accused of four cases of sexual assaults by his former girlfriends and women who had attended the parties he hosted in his home in the past.
All events were claimed to have taken place during the early 2000’s. Masterson fully denied all accusations.
Back then, the LAPD conducted an investigation which resulted in nothing. Although, because of the emergence of the Me Too Movement, the case was once again re-opened.
One of the major backlashes brought upon by the case’s re-opening, Netflix saw it fit that the actor should be taken away from the original series following the series of rants and complaints from some fans, activists, and the accusers.
The company previously announced his exit through a statement released on Twitter.
They wrote, ‘After discussing with the producers, we've decided to write Danny Masterson off of The Ranch. Yesterday was his last day of work, and we'll make new episodes in 2018 without him.’
The decision made outraged fans want to act and save their idol by making petitions on Change.org.
One petition made by a fan named Amanda Black has now reached 2,185 out of the 2,500 signatures needed.
Other fans also made other petitions on the site. Netflix is yet to respond to any of the appeals.
As for Masterson, he will still appear in the first ten episodes of the new season. For more updates about the actor, visit our Twitter account, @amomama_usa.
