Actress and businesswoman Jada Pinkett Smith, who is married to Will Smith, revealed that her first pregnancy was not planned.

During a conversation Jada had with Megyn Kelly on Today, she confessed that her life changed quickly when she learned that she was pregnant with Jaden. The actress added that there was ‘a lot of adjustment to make.’

Jada pointed out that, at that moment, her husband’s career had started to take off, so she considered that there should be somebody at home to ‘hold the fort down.’ However, it was challenging for her to understand her role in the new life.

To make things even harder for Jada, her relationship to Will started when he was still married to another woman. Jada became the stepmother to Will’s son, Trey, when the couple got married.

Thankfully, she managed to understand that she should put her family first and, a couple of years later, Willow was born, which made things more difficult.

While Jada is seen as a wonderful mother by her fans, she admitted having given up her freedom and the lifestyle she was used to. Apart from that, the actress had to put her film career on hold so she could raise her children in the best possible way.

Jada confessed that she let go some aspects of her life that she shouldn’t have. However, it was her idea of what a mother should be, what being in a family meant, and how a partner should act.

The only way Jada considered that her life improved was when she started taking responsibilities for what would make her happy. As soon as she stepped outside all the boxes that people thought she should sit within, she ‘got a lot [sic] happier.’

Jada also revealed that being back in front of the cameras with her new show Red Table Talk felt very good.

‘It feels good to just feel more of a whole woman. And of course I’m still on the journey to complete that but I feel like I have more of who I truly am.'
