Mel B granted restraining order against ex-husband Stephen Belafonte

The ex-Spice Girl is still embroiled in a custody battle with ex-husband Stephen Belafonte

Melanie Janine Brown, 43, known as Mel B filed for a temporary restraining order against her former husband, Stephen Belafonte, and the order was granted by a California court.

Brown had requested that the restraining order should extend to her three children, forcing Belafonte to stay away from them, but the judge denied her request pending a hearing.

The restraining order orders Belafonte, 43, to stay 100 yards away from Mel B, until the order is reviewed by the court next month, reported The Blast.

The star's restraining order was filed after an incident on the 25th of May 2018, during which the police was called to the former couple’s home to investigate a domestic disturbance call.

“Due to my extreme terror of Stephen and the thought of having to be in a confined space anywhere near him again, I had a full-blown panic attack."

The incident ended with the police handcuffing the irate and out-of-control Belafonte. According to Brown, the unpleasantness occurred in the presence of the couple's young daughter, Madison Brown Belafonte, 6.

Brown reported that when she visited the marital home on June 12, 2018, in order to fulfill a court order and remove her private effects from the house, she had an anxiety attack.

As a result of her panic attack, Brown had to be hospitalized at Cedar Sinai Hospital, that same afternoon.

Belafonte is adamant that the incident on the 25th of May was not as Brown described, He admitted that the police had handcuffed him, but when the officers discovered Brown did not have a restraining order against him, Belafonte was released.

Brown and Belafonte married in 2007 in Las Vegas, Nevada, and in September 2011, Brown gave birth to her third child, daughter Madison Brown Belafonte.

In March 2017, after 10 years of marriage, Brown filed for divorce from Belafonte alleging emotional and physical abuse.

Brown has two more children: Phoenix Chi Gulzar, 19, and Angel Iris Murphy Brown, 10, whom she shares with celebrated comedian and movie star Eddie Murphy.
