Almost eight years since she tied the knot with her husband Joel Madden, Nicole Richie still gushes over him as she flaunts his relationship with their daughter on Father’s Day.

The daughter of Lionel Richie shared a lovely photo of the musician and their younger daughter Sparrow, 8, while on a European vacation. Clad in shorts and a t-shirt revealing his tattooed arms and legs, Joel held on to his daughter dressed in an orange frock and a white hat as they strolled along a busy tourist spot. The photo which only featured the father and daughter’s backside was a testament to the kind of father Joel is, as Nicole confirmed in her caption.

“We're so lucky we get to explore the world with you Happy Fathers Day @joelmadden”

Nicole and the former Good Charlotte frontman were married in December 2010, two years after they welcomed their first daughter, Harlowe, now 10 and a year after Sparrow was born. Prior to being a mother, the 36-year-old was a wild child who partied a lot and figured in drug busts, DUI arrests, and severe weight loss. But all that changed after welcoming Harlowe who Nicole described as a blessing. Sharing the People cover with her newborn in 2008, she confessed,

“I don’t even remember what life was like before her.”

Just a year before Harlowe’s birth, Nicole and her husband also created the Richie-Madden Children’s Foundation in which Nicole donated her own baby shower gifts to 100 expectant families while raising $10,000 to build a playground for children’s shelter in Los Angeles

It was all uphill from then on for the sister of Sophia Richie, Scott Disick’s current flame, who devoted her time to being a full-time mom while forging a career in jewelry design via House of Harlow 1960 and a fashion line, Winter Kate.

Now a happy wife and mother-of-two, Nicole has found the place where she truly belongs. She also recently opened up to Elle about learning to embrace her natural look in the past years.

“Over the past two decades, I felt I needed a lot more before - I needed extensions, foundation, the brows, so many things.

“Then, I got to a place where I was more confident and wanted to show who I was, because being somebody else can be fun for a second but at the end of the day, it ends up being tiring because it's not you.”
