The “The Haves and Have Nots” star landed a leading role in the upcoming film “Sonic The Hedgehog,” and it seems like the production has already started, as she shared a pic hanging out with her famous co-star.

After the success of her film “Southside With You,” and OWN series “The Haves and Have Nots,” many doors have been opening for Tika Sumpter in Hollywood. The mother of one is ready to take over a huge challenge in her career by taking on the leading role of “Sonic the Hedgehog.”

Sumpter will be joined by the handsome James Marsden, famous for his roles as Scott Summers/Cyclops in the “X-Men” film series and gunslinger Teddy Flood, a sentient android, in the HBO series “Westworld.”

The pair seems to have started working on the project already, as Tika shared a photo on Instagram posing next to Marsden as they enjoyed a summer day in an unknown location.

In the pic, Tika looks gorgeous wearing a turquoise maxi dress with floral details and sunglasses as she cuddles to James, who’s wearing a black t-shirt, gray jeans, and a black baseball cap.

The pair of actors seemed to be in a good mood as they flashed bright smiles to the camera while sitting in a parking lot. Tika teased her fellow co-star by writing in her caption:

“When you’re forced to work w this newbie! Lolololo! The best! @james_marsden #sonic”

The film is an ambitious project from Paramount Pictures that will mix live action and animated characters and will follow the adventures of Sonic, the blue hedgehog from the classic Sega video game.

Tim Miller, who directed “Deadpool” is appointed as executive producer, along with Toby Ascher. Dmitri Johnson and Dan Jevons will co-produce. Jeff Fowler will direct the film, and according to recent reports, it will also count on Jim Carrey in the villain role.

Jim Gianopulos, chairman, and CEO of Paramount described the tone the movie will be taking on a panel at the "10th annual PGA Produced By" conference.

He said of Sonic: “He’s a juvenile delinquent on the adventures in a pretty straight rural environment with a local policeman,” and stated that he was sold immediately when the project was presented to him. “It was instantly engaging, and it was good enough where you could see where it’s going.”

Fans of the video game are not so sure about the tone the movie will be taking, so Tika and James are facing a high critic audience with this project. Hopefully, they will exceed our expectations.

The film is set to hit the big screen in November 2019.
