The image of a cute girl with her hand on her waist and an afro has become a trendy meme on Facebook and Instagram starting with the phrase: ‘My momma said…’ But few people have recognized the star of the viral photo.

It turns out that the funny girl in the meme is no other than 25-year-old American rapper Cardi B, born Belcalis Almazar, as a child, when she was growing up at the Bronx, New York City, according to Marie Claire.

Cardi was the first to share her childhood picture on her Instagram account next to a funny phrase, and from that moment on thousands of users took it as material to create hilarious memes that go around the world.

Cardi gained a huge notoriety in the rap music world with the success of her song Bodak Yellow, released in 2017, on which she talks about her previous life as a stripper, as reported by Nicki Swift.

The rapper garnered 10 nominations for the 2018 edition, MTV Video Music Awards (VMA), making the current one the year she cemented her reputation as one of the most successful and sought-after artists in the industry.

Cardi won nominations in all major categories of the awards show, including Best Artist and Best New Artist, as well as Best Video, Best Collaboration and Best Choreography, mainly for her work with Bruno Mars on Finesse.

On July 10, the rising star gave birth to her first daughter Kulture Kiari Cephus with her husband Offset, and she has been forced to slow down a little to focus on the family she is building.

On July 26, Cardi announced her decision to cancel her involvement on Mars' 24k Magic Tour as she realized she needed more time to ‘recover mentally and physically’ from her pregnancy and her new role as a mother.

‘I underestimated this whole mommy thing. Not only am I just not ready physically. I’m not ready to leave me baby behind since the doctors explained it’s not healthy for her to be on the road,’ she revealed on an Instagram post.
