Sara Haines' tearful goodbye to 'The View'

The View co-host Sara Haines said goodbye to the talk show on Thursday. Her fellow panelists played a reel of her best moments on the show as a farewell bid.

The clip showed the star tackling different ranging topics with her co-hosts. Haines is set to co-host a new talk show on ABC called GMA Day.

Sara Haines, 40, is leaving The View and heading to ABC’s new talk show, GMA Day, which she will host with Michael Strahan. The show is set to start this fall.

"I knew this one was meant to sit at the table since the first time she guest-hosted — co-hosted on The View — and we just wanted to show you a couple of reasons why this break-up is so hard," co-host Whoopi Goldberg said while introducing a highlights reel for Haines.

The reel showed of her best moments. The View audience saw Haines tearing up as she watched herself touch on topics ranging from postpartum depression to veteran suicides

From the many people you guys will never see behind the cameras, who have become life-long friends - they're not going anywhere — to the dear friends I have made at this table, who are absolutely TV gold, and you guys are strong, empowered, opinionated women...”

Later, the show’s staff lightened the mood with a collection of outtakes. One of those included another co-host, Joy Behar, pushing Haines so hard that she fell off her chair.

“For anyone who has ever played a sport, you know the best team members are the ones who lift you up and make you better. And you guys did that for me. Thank you. I love this View and I love all of you, so thank you so much," Haines said thanking her team.

Strahan also appeared on The View, sending in a video from his yacht. He spoke to his soon-to-be-co-host saying, "I know you're sad to leave The View because you are incredible at the table, but I'm excited because you and I are gonna kick off the new show GMA Day September 10. You're going to be incredible there, too.”

After the broadcast of the talk show, co-host Meghan McCain wished Haines the best of luck with her new show. She wrote on Twitter that she would also miss her fellow cast member.

In 2009, Haines joined the Today show as a production coordinator and began contributing to Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford's fourth hour. Then, in 2013, she moved to ABC News before joining The View.

She announced her plans to join ABC News' new third hour of GMA last month. Fox & Friends Weekend co-host Abby Huntsman, the daughter of Jon Huntsman, President Donald Trump's ambassador to Russia, was reportedly in the running to replace Haines on The View.
