EJ Johnson's new blonde hairstyle sparks heated debate

EJ Johnson is no stranger to courting controversy, and the TV personality proved on trend with a recent photo of his new hairstyle.

EJ debuted his new hairstyle in an Instagram selfie posted yesterday. The blonde piece was styled in a lob cut and dramatic side part, and EJ flaunted flawless makeup to complement the entire look.

It was enough that the son of basketball legend, Magic Johnson, chose to ditch his low cut for a more colorful look, but EJ went a step further by referring to himself in the feminine. “She can do both #teamthis," he wrote.

With over 40,000 likes, there are those who think the former “EJNYC” star is rocking the look. But beyond the likes, EJ has succeeded in sparking a heated debate over his latest hair choice.

In a copy of the photo shared by The Shade Room, social media users had a field day in the comments section.

There were a lot of users who were not impressed EJ’s new look or the fact that he referred to himself as a female:

“A trashy blond wig? No sir. There’s too much good hair out here”

“That big headed boy need to go find something else to do with his money”

“Don't care how many add-ons he do..He still Magic Johnson SON”

Some users thought he looked like reality stars, Khloe Kardashian and Tamar Braxton:

“Tamar cut all of her hair off and looks like EJ, and EJ bought some hair to look like Tamar. Maybe they should be besties.”

“Glancing up real quick I thought this was Khloe”

There were also those who came to the 26-year-old’s defense and commended his look:

“The makeup is flawless and d if they hadn't said who he was I would have thought this was a woman. The hair looks good with his skin tone. Wonder if he has thought of having a cosmetics line.”

EJ’s blonde hair debut comes one week after he broke his silence on the death of his best friend, Lyric McHenry. The “Rich Kids of Beverly Hills” alum told a fan “there will be no mourning post because I’m not going to reduce a 25yr friendship to 1 Instagram post.”

McHenry died on August 14 of a suspected drug overdose and was reportedly pregnant. She and EJ had been extremely close and celebrated her birthday a couple of days before she passed.

In a birthday tribute to her at the time, EJ wrote:
