Gabby Sidibe flaunts her slimmer curves in crossword print midi dress after recent weight loss
Gabourey Sidibe looks stunning in one of her recent Instagram photos as she shows off her slimmer figure and cool fashion choices.
The actress’ weight loss journey started in 2016, and the results are astounding. The “Empire” star has made her Instagram account the best place to communicate with fans.
She shares tidbits of her daily life and in her most recent post, Sidibe proved that she could make any activity, like buying groceries, a fun and fashionable moment in the company of friends.
She rocked a sleeveless crossword print midi dress that hugged her curvaceous body in all the right places and completed the look with sunglasses.
The star posed holding a CVS basket with plastic cups and plates in one hand, and some napkins under her other arm.
She revealed that the person behind the picture was fellow “Empire” co-star Toby Onwumere.
“Went to the store with [tobyonwumere] and he let me hold all of this by myself while he goin this picture. He took it all from me...eventually...” she captioned the photo.
Fans immediately flocked to Sidibe's comment section to praise her looks. One user wrote: “Dope dress! You're so cute.”
Another added, “You are really an inspiration; smart, beautiful and talented,” while daydreamfly said, “I love your dress I hope you enjoyed your shopping.”
Sidibe has come a long way in her weight loss journey. She started to make some changes in her life in 2016 when she went under a laparoscopic bariatric surgery to reduce the size of her stomach.
However, Sidibe revealed in her book “This Is Just My Face: Try Not To Stare,” that her decision was motivated on health issues rather than looks.
After Sidibe and her brother Ahmed were diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, the actress realized she needed to make some changes in her lifestyle.
“I just didn't want to worry. I truly didn't want to worry about all the effects that go along with diabetes. I genuinely (would) worry all the time about losing my toes,” she confessed.
However, the surgery was just the beginning of the process. Sidibe is now following a fitness plan with a personal trainer, and that includes and special diet designed by a nutritionist.
She’s always on the move, whether she’s at home on set.
She said:
“I’m as active as I can be, which is actually quite a lot. I have an Apple Watch that tracks me all the time. I have a tricycle at my house in L.A.; I also have a tricycle on set in Chicago."
Sidibe explained that she rides her tricycle during her lunch break, and tries to stay as active as possible.
She added that she is stronger now and able to move more, and "not worried about losing my [expletive] toes anymore."
Sidibe looks stunning these days, and her confidence shows she’s feeling just as great on the inside.
Just a few days ago, she headlined TheCurvyCon at New York Fashion Week. The convention features a series of panels and talks on body positivity and uplifting messages for plus-size women.
Sidibe joined as the keynote speaker. Before hitting the main stage at the event, Gabby explained:
"Even though we are moving towards more visibility for plus-size people, there is a lot [of] pushback. So it’s important to keep fighting [and] to keep being visible until the conversation changes and [it] is no longer about our bodies because I'm not my body. I'm a whole person."
