Regina King couldn't believe she had won Emmy Award, taking the stage in neon yellow dress
Actress and TV director Regina King, best known for “Seven Seconds,” was surprised to win the Emmy Award. She didn’t even prepare a speech.
For the ceremony held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, King put on a strapless neon-green gown that had a skin-tight fit. Apart from that, she opted for wearing only earrings as accessories.
Daily Mail revealed that Christian Siriano designed the dress and that Irene Neuwirth made the earrings. Finally, Yvette Shelton was her hairstylist, who coiffed the updo that King’s character wore in “The Big Bang Theory” and added a crimped ponytail.
King was nominated to Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie for her role as Latrice Butler in "Seven Seconds."
WHO ELSE GOT NOMINATED?
The competition was very tough, though, as King was facing Jessica Biel from “The Sinner,” Laura Dern from “The Tale,” Michelle Dockery from “Godless,” Edie Falco from “The Menendez Murders,” and Sarah Paulson from “American Horror Story: Cult.”
In the three-minute clip that the Television Academy uploaded to YouTube, King appeared shocked when she heard her name as the winner of the award.
NOTHING PREPARED
After taking a couple of seconds to assimilate the good news, she stood up and went onstage. Once there, she revealed that she dropped lipstick on her dress and was trying to get it out.
“Wow, okay, I didn't have nothing to say because I wasn't really expecting this, but I am so grateful Television Academy. Y'all are my friends, my peers, thank you, thank you, thank you [sic],” said King.
“THANK YOU, JESUS”
The actress pointed out that winning the award was amazing and that she wanted to curse. Finally, she thanked Jesus and named Emmy host Michael Che for joking by saying that only black actors thank Jesus in their speeches.
KING’S BEAUTIFUL PHYSIQUE
She recently flaunted her amazing body by wearing a strapless orange dress. The award-winning actress was one of the attendees at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s Grants Banquet this year, and she was dressed to impress.
Given the fact that King’s family has a history of heart disease and that she was diagnosed with hypertension in her 20s, the actress has done her best to work out regularly.
Consequently, she looks as fit and beautiful as she does nowadays at 47 years of age.
