'Basketball Wives' CeCe Gutierrez and Byron Scott get engaged
In a surprising twist, “Basketball Wives” newcomer, Cecilia "CeCe" Gutierrez and her boyfriend, former NBA player Byron Scott, are engaged. The news comes amidst CeCe’s strained relationship with Byron’s daughter-in-law.
Byron took to the comment section of one on CeCe’s Instagram posts to leave a revealing message.
“4 1-2 years ago we met. 6 months later you were my girlfriend. 2 weeks ago you became my fiancé. And soon you will be my wife. I am the luckiest man on earth. I love you baby,”
He wrote.
The post has since been deleted but not before the official Instagram handle of the show got a screenshot. CeCe hasn’t said anything concerning the news, but she did show off her huge ring on Instagram stories.
Meanwhile, season seven of “Basketball Wives” saw CeCe and Kristen’s friendship take a negative turn. Kristen’s husband, Thomas is the son of Byron, and during the last season, she blamed CeCe for not persuading Byron to spend more time with their family.
Malaysia, another cast member who also happened to be Byron’s cousin, took sides with Kristen and urged CeCe to take a stand. By the end of the season, Malaysia and Kristen were not on good terms with CeCe.
Kristen also stood by while another cast member, Evelyn Lozada, made a derogatory remark about CeCe. This action won CeCe much public sympathy and fans are over the moon with news of this engagement.
Kristen had earlier said CeCe’s place in the family was not solidified, but with the latest development, it looks like that’s about to change.
Byron was previously married to his ex-wife, Anita for 29 years. They filed for divorce in 2014 but have been at loggerheads in a nasty spousal support battle. The estranged pair has three grown kids- Thomas, LonDen, and DaRon- while CeCe has a 25-year-old son of her own.
