Ciara & Russell Wilson dragged for making their daughter 'look like a boy' in recent video
Fans raise concerns about Ciara's daughter when she appears looking like a boy in a recent video the singer posted.
A recent video of Ciara’s daughter, Sienna, is causing quite a stir among fans who’ve been making an issue of her appearance. According to them, the 16-month-old is inappropriately dressed like a boy.
Ciara’s daughter with her husband Russell Wilson has been such a joy to watch lately especially because she’s been stealing the limelight with her love for dance. Last month, she delighted fans as she joined her mother’s back-up dancers bouncing to the singer’s latest track, “Dose.”
Dressed in black leggings and a t-shirt, Sienna grooved to her heart’s content during a dance rehearsal in Cincinatti. According to her mom, she just really enjoys dancing every time music is played.
Just recently, she showed off once again in an Instagram story her mother shared. Dressed in a pair of jeans, a sports jersey and rubber shoes, she smiled as she bounced around to a song playing in the background.
But while fans appreciated the little girl’s enthusiasm, they also took notice of something else. Sienna appeared to look like a boy in the video.
They expressed this concern on the comments section of The Shade Room where the video was reposted.
“Can they put a bow in her hair or something”
“Girl? Can she get some little girl gear, and a ponytail or something?...No put down to the child. It's not her FAULT!”
“Put a bow and some earrings on her. She look like a boy. Smdh”
“I always think she’s a boy”
“She’s so adorable I would love to see her in some earrings and a little dress.”
“She cute...but she always looking like a lil boy she's too cute of a little girl for that!”
It’s unfortunate that Sienna would be mistaken for a boy considering she was born with a very girly second name – Princess, because that’s also her mother’s middle name. And she was very much a princess when she celebrated her first birthday in April with a birthday bash fit for, yes, a princess. Photos from the party revealed the little girl dressed in a puffy pink tulle skirt and sporting a flower crown. There was no doubt then, she was as girly as she could get.
Many would argue that it shouldn’t be such an issue if Sienna was dressed like a boy. There are a lot of celebrities nowadays who veer away from gender stereotypes when raising their children. Singer Adele took her son Angelo to Disneyland dressed in a Princess Anna costume, her son’s choice. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s daughter, Shiloh would often be spotted wearing suits on the red carpet and sporting short hair. Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith’s son, Jaden has been challenging gender norms in fashion by wearing dresses and skirts. Zoe Saldana has also been very vocal about raising her children in a gender fluid environment, much like how singer Pink chooses to raise her children too.
Ciara has never spoken up about how she chooses to raise her children but she would be in good company in case she too is all for a gender-fluid environment for her children.
