Zoë Kravitz reveals she's been secretly engaged to boyfriend Karl Glusman
Zoe Kravitz rarely speaks up about her private life, but in a recent tell-all interview, she let her guard down and shared more about life as a Kravitz and bout her own relationship.
While being interviewed casually by the Rolling Stone, she opens up not just about her relationship with her current boyfriend, but also her parents, whom she says brought her up in a life of privilege.
However, growing up, she made sure not to abuse the privilege given to her by her famous parents but instead worked really hard to get to where she is today. Zoe reveals that back when she was in her early to mid 20's, she kept auditioning for roles but would never get them because there was a "certain type of girl" that Hollywood was looking for.
Despite not landing the roles she wanted at the time, her dad, famous rock star Lenny Kravitz, said that his daughter never asked for help.
"She didn't want help. I did nothing except get her an agent — after that, it’s down to your work. Somebody may be interested for five minutes: ‘Oh, it’s the daughter of . . .’ But nobody cares who your mom or dad is if you can’t do the job.”
It's not just that she wasn't getting the roles she auditioned for, but also that she was a black woman. Despite being second-generation Hollywood royalty, directors would say that they wanted their leads to be more of a "girl-next-door" type of girl or "more all-American", despite Zoe being born and raised in America.
Although she struggled for a while, there are two projects that she is most proud of, and those are "Mad Max: Fury Road" and "Big Little Lies", which both include a group of strong women fighting back against their abusers.
During the interview, she got a call from her boyfriend, actor Karl Glusman, who just came from a good audition. She ended up talking about the huge diamond ring she was wearing, to which she casually says:
"Oh yeah, I'm engaged."
The way she said it so casually had the interviewer believe it was a joke, but then she reiterated that her boyfriend has indeed popped the question.
"No, I'm engaged! I haven't told anyone yet - I mean, I haven't told the world. I wanted to keep it private."
Now that the cat's out of the bag, congratulations and best wishes, Zoe and Karl!
