Following events such as anniversaries, birthdays and weddings it’s not unusual for members of the Royal Family to send out thank you cards. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry also sent out thank you cards following the announcement of their engagement, but it was typed, and not handwritten.
Princess Eugenie’s choice to personalize her thank you cards was a special touch, and unusual according to normal royal protocol. The card featured a picture of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank, taken during their engagement photocall at Buckingham Palace and read:
“We are so grateful for your lovely message congratulating us on our engagement. We are so happy and excited and look forward to 2018 being a very special year for us. Thank you for thinking of us, Eugenie and Jack.”
After Princess Eugenie and Jack’s wedding on October 12, the Princess once again chose to thank those who congratulated and helped make her day special with the personal touch of handwritten thank you cards.
The card featured a beautiful picture with their young bridal party taken on her wedding day which read:
“Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making our wedding so special and for thinking of us as we start our married life. We are completely overwhelmed with happiness.”
Following the wedding of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry on May 19, the newlyweds also sent out thank you cards to their fans from Kensington Palace. The envelope featured the Kensington Palace crest, and inside was a photo of the couple on their wedding day with a typed message that read:
“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been overwhelmed by all the incredibly kind cards and letters they have received on the occasion of their Wedding and are so touched that you took the trouble to write as you did. It really was most thoughtful of you and greatly appreciated by Their Royal Highnesses who send you their very best wishes.”
Fergie, the mother of Princess Eugenie recently revealed the special role the Queen had played during the Princess’s wedding day. Fergie, who had always had the utmost respect for the Queen shared that it was at the insistence of the Queen that Princess Eugenie got married at St George’s Chapel.
Princess Eugenie looked stunning in her Peter Pilotto wedding gown, designed to show the scar from the corrective surgery she received for scoliosis when she was 12 years old.
Afterward, Fergie proudly shared photos of Princess Eugenie and Jack leaving the chapel after the ceremony and wrote on Instagram:
“Andrew and I are proud to welcome Jack to the York family… So proud of Eugenie and Jack.”
Fitting that such a beautiful day is followed by the thoughtful handwritten thank you cards.
