In a stream of weird and petty crimes dating from 2015 and 2016, police have been called for “hate incidents.” These now include a dog being accused of racism for defecating on someone’s front door.

There have been more than 2,500 alleged “hate incidents” which were logged by the Metropolitan Police. Critics have deemed these incidents as being so petty that they were undeserving of the police’s time and expense.

The other cases that have been logged by the Metropolitan Police include, an envelope that had been opened and resealed, an accident involving a car that had a Remembrance poppy, and a disputed line call in a tennis match.

Others were: a dead rat found in a garden and a man telling library staff that he was campaigning for Brexit. Tory MP and former special constable David Davies said such “non-crimes” were a waste of the police’s time.

“This is part of the reason that police struggle to investigate serious offenses such as home burglaries. People need to start thinking more carefully before they call the police.”

In a 118-page document, 2,507 hate incidents were revealed and disclosed under Freedom of Information laws. In the case of the dog, it was documented as, “An unknown dog has fouled outside of victim address and victim perceived this to be a racial incident.”

Another case which was once logged with the police was an alleged hate crime where “Suspect’s dog barking at victim.” One other case was by a supposed victim of racial abuse.

The person reported that he “believes a letter addressed to him was opened and then resealed before he had collected it from the Post Office.” A number of claims were over parking disputes and crashes.

An entry records:

“Unknown suspect has reversed into victim’s car causing extensive damage. Victim perceives to be a hate crime as she had a poppy in front of her car.”

In a different dispute, a man claimed that his neighbors were parking only outside his house. He claimed that they were “targeting him due to him being black.”

Another neighborly dispute reads:

“Victim on hearing her neighbours in their house has put her ear up to their door to hear what they are talking about. In a conversation they have referred to her as [redacted] and made remarks of trying to get her moved out.”

It seems not only human beings are called out for their crimes. Animals keep finding themselves in trouble for real crimes and funny made-up ones.

Here’s 10 of them.
