Teen gunman killed and girl, 12, among two injured before Black Friday sales at an Alabama mall
Thanksgiving ended on a sour note on Thursday for some Black Friday shoppers. A shooting occurred at the Riverchase Galleria in Hoover, Birmingham.
A man had an altercation with a teenager and pulled out a gun and shot him. A 12-year-old girl who was nearby was also shot in the incident.
At around 9.30 p.m.at the Riverchase Galleria in Hoover, Alabama, an unnamed person who some reports say was a 21-year-old man or a teenager from Hueytown got into a fight with an 18-year-old. The details of the altercation aren’t clear and it isn’t known if the two knew each other.
A witness said the shooting happened “between JCPenney and Footaction near the food court.” The gunman shot the teenager and injured a 12-year-old girl who was nearby.

The two victims were taken to hospitals and are expected to survive. The teenager was said to be in serious condition while the girl was only shot once and currently responsive.
Black Friday shoppers panicked when the shooting happened and scattered in different directions while trying to get to safety. The mall had been scheduled to remain open until midnight ahead of Friday's sales.
Police Captain Gregg Rector said the gunman was fatally shot by a uniformed Hoover officer. A number of witnesses revealed that they had heard as many as 10 shots.
The mall will remain closed until further notice. Its operators stated that they were "devastated by the incident" and shopping was cut short.
Last year on Thanksgiving Day, the same mall had to cut shopping times when fights broke out. At the time, only one person was treated for minor injuries.
On Monday, Mercy Hospital became a scene of a crime when Juan Lopez shot and killed three people. Lopez killed Officer Samuel Jimenez who was trying to stop him.
The gunman also killed his ex-fiancée Dr. Tamara O’Neal, and Dayna Less, 25, a first-year pharmacy resident. Lopez also died at the scene from a gunshot wound.
