'AGT' winner Darci Lynne shares how the schoolchildren’s attitude to her has changed
During a recent interview with PeopleNow Darci shared what her life is like in the year after winning 'AGT.'
Darci Lynne Farmer captivated the American audience, judges and anyone who watched Season 12 of ‘America’s Got Talent.’ Thirteen-year-old Darci knocked out the impressive competition with her brilliant ventriloquism acts. She combined singing, comedy, and characters in her performances all the way to the finals, where she won in September 2017.

She joined PeopleNow for an interview on November 29 to catch up and see how her life changed over the last year. With everyone comfortable and her ventriloquist doll, Petunia by her side they launch right into an informal talk as one host asks if anything has changed for her regarding school. Darci takes a second to formulate her answer before she explained:
“Our middle school is just seventh and eighth grade, so I moved up, and we are the bigger kids in school now. So these six graders have come up, and they all like, oh my gosh it's Darcy Lynne!”
Darcy pulls her face a little as she mentioned that all the seventh-grade rowdy boys want to give her a high-five. The conversations got steered towards her winnings, as the one host mentioned some things she had already bought with her prize money of $1 million for winning ‘AGT’ last year, with the biggest probably being the dishwasher she bought for her mum.
But what the hosts wanted to know was what she had on the top of her list of things she wanted most. To this she replied:
“I wanted a puppy because still haven’t got one.”
The host interjected jokingly before the end of their interview and asked Petunia if she wanted a puppy. Comically Darci and the Petunia looked at one another, and the Petunia said:
“Well, I hope not, I mean they are dirty, and filthy, so much work.”
After the finals and her crowning as champion, E!News spoke with Darcy to hear how she was feeling after the big win and whether she had plans with the prize money.
Still shocked and excited after her win she first mentioned that she wanted to help out her church’s mission program and added:
"I have to get my mom a dishwasher because it doesn't work and we need a new one. I would love to get a pug. A puppy, a baby pug, I just want one so bad. I'm ready…I'm ready to take on the puppy life."
As she mentioned during the interview with PeopleNow, the only thing she still wanted to do with the money is getting a puppy. Apart from that, she kept to everything she mentioned on her winning night.
Darcy took to Facebook well in advance of her anticipated performance in Nashville at the Ryman Auditorium on March 10, 2018, to post a new duet with her Cowgirl puppet, Katie. Effortlessly she switched between her voice and that of Katie while she sang a John Denver classic, ‘Take Me Home, Country Roads.’
A truly talented young lady, with hopefully much more to see from her in the future.
