Kandi Burruss mommy-shamed for letting son get his hair braided & edges laid in new video
Kandi Burruss was heavily criticized after she posted a video of her son Ace Well Tucker sporting a new braided hairstyle. The reality TV star had her personal stylist braid Ace's hair into cornrows, and have his edges laid with a comb.
Kandi Burruss and her personal hairstylist were both on the receiving end of some criticizing comments when the star posted a video of 2-year-old Ace getting cornrows.
In the photo, Jodie Sew carefully braided Ace's hair, while Kandi looked on happily as she admitted that even she can't braid his hair that well. As for the reason why she decided to have his hair braided, it was because he has "so much hair" that it often becomes hard to manage.
While it might have been a sigh of relief for Burruss to have his son sport an easier hairstyle, many internet users were disgusted by what she did, especially since Ace is a boy.
"@msfoxy88: Wait that's a boy why is he getting the baby hair laid down like a girl smh really"
"@msfoxy88: That is not cute at all he's a boy not a girl smh"
"@raefea: Why???? That is a boy why why is she slickin down his baby hair like that OMG!"
"@janetbuckleyb: I just don't get why folks but their boys in braids to look like a girl. Ugh!"
While there were many comments questioning the decisions of the mother, there were also many who praised Ace for his good looks.
"@sebrineheadan: Really handsome little fella"
"@riveranatosha: Aww he's so handsome"
"@msbadazzpat: To each his own. [Nowadays] you can't tell some females from males. However she and her husband wishes for their son's hair to look is their business. Me myself I would have cut all that hair off gave my son a nice short haircut and lined him up. But again to each his own."
In the end, the debate has remained unsolved, and Kandi has remained mum about all of it. After all, she shares photos of her children because she is proud of them, and not for any other reason. That means that she doesn't let fans' comments get in the way of how she raises her children.
