Kirby Bumpus, who is a perfect combination of beauty and brains just like her mother, is an advocate of community health, which she's shared multiple times on social media. Now, she is about to become a mother herself, making her advocacy apt for nurturing a child.

Bumpus first caught the public eye as a little girl, seen alongside her mother, a famous American TV personality and journalist. Through the years, she continued to be featured on her mom's social media pages, especially now that the doting grandmother-to-be is sharing updates about her daughter's pregnancy with fans.

ANNOUNCING THE PREGNANCY

The world first found out about the pregnancy on King's show, "CBS This Morning," where she shared that her daughter was pregnant. While she was excited, she revealed that she is not looking to be called "grandma."

Bumpus, 32, is not just King's daughter, but also Oprah Winfrey's goddaughter. She is surrounded by phenomenal women, and this has resulted in her being a woman with her own passions and advocacies as well.

BUMPUS'S CAREER

She works as the head of social impact and inclusion at Sweetgreen, a fast-casual restaurant chain known for its delicious salad. Prior to that, she worked at the Department of Health and Human Services as an associate director for policy in the White House.

During her stint there, she actually worked on Michelle Obama's "Let's Move!" initiative. Bumpus graduated from Stanford University with a degree in Human Biology and Psychology. She also studied at Columbia’s Mailman School of Public Health.

HER QUIET WEDDING

In December 2020, she married Virgil Miller in a quiet ceremony surrounded by only a number of guests, including King, Winfrey, and her brother William who officiated the ceremony. While they planned for the wedding to be a certain way, the COVID-19 pandemic stopped this from happening.

They ended up exchanging vows in Winfrey's Santa Barbara home, which ended up being perfect for them. The nuptials were kept private for two months before King announced it on her show on February 1.
