Remember Mia Morgan from 'The Best Man'? She shows off her new short hairstyle in recent photos

Monica Calhoun is best known for playing “Mia” in “The Best Man,” but these days she’s excelling in another role: being a mom. And while her blind son has become her number priority, Monica makes sure to take care of herself too, and she’s looking stunning with her new hairstyle.

Monica Calhoun is a natural beauty, and now that she has given her hair the chop, her facial features look even sharper, enhancing her high cheeks and sharp jaw. The actress and mother of one took to her Instagram to share some pics rocking her short do’, and fans were quick to react.

Calhoun, 47, has a view on the world and people that was shaped by growing up with a blind brother, Eric, and later in life by raising her 18-year-old son with the same disability. So, for her, beauty comes from the inside and is all about positive energy. She said:

“Beauty is how I feel about myself. If someone is looking at me and I’m not what their normal idea of beauty is, they see me, and they feel my energy saying to them ‘I’m gorgeous. I’m beautiful. …When you approach that inner beauty feeling, it’s hard for someone not to deem you as beautiful."

But her views go beyond just beauty, as she revealed in an interview with SmartalecMusic a few years ago, saying:

“My compassion and my sensitivity are heightened because of my brother’s blindness and spending a lot of time with him. And you know, teaching him things that I’ve learned…and then vice versa somewhat. Me spending time with him at his programs…like ‘The Braille Institute’…just different little things. So, I got a chance to experience life on a different level. Patience in watching these people that volunteer to work with children that have some sort of impairment…”

Calhoun, who was last seen on screen on the 2017 BET miniseries "The New Edition Story" in the role of Ralph Tresvant's mother, usually fills her Instagram with lovely pics and videos of her son.

The pair shares a special bond since the young man has to rely on Monica more than other teens of his age, but the actress doesn’t seem to mind at all.

She loves her boy and has proven on several occasions that she is a mama bear and will defend him from non-sense on social media like that one-time people made snide remarks about the boy’s afro.

Monica always fires back with class and lets the trolls know she loves her son no matter what.
