After the reveal, Shelton’s girlfriend and former coach on seasons 7,9, and 12 of The Voice Gwen Stefani shared an adorable clip of one of Shelton’s previous losses via her Instagram Story.
Shelton’s contestant Lauren Duski lost to Alicia Keys’ contestant Chris Blue in the tightly contested finale of Season 12 held in May 2017.
"What do you feel like right now?"
Stefani asked a visibly dejected Shelton as the pair walked together backstage.
"A loser"
he replied, half-joking but still looking glum.
In an attempt to cheer him up, Stefani said,
"I don't think...I think you're a winner, still."
"You do? I take it back," Shelton replied, beaming at her. "I feel like a winner."
After Tuesday’s finale, Clarkson revealed to reporters that she had always supported Sheperd since the first round of the show.
"I've obviously believed in her since the blind [auditions],"
she said, in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.
"But it's so hard to get country people on your team if you're not Blake Shelton.” - She added,
“No one's ever beat him with a country artist."
Shelton has won The Voice on six different occasions and has been a coach since the show debuted in 2011.
Shelton and Stefani met on The Voice after both went through public divorces, and all indications show that the pair can’t seem to get enough of each other as their relationship still waxes strong.
Stefani gave up her position as coach to Miley Cyrus for season 11 but took it back for the following season alongside Alicia Keys and Adam Levine.
Season 15 winner of The Voice Chevel Shepherd performed a cover of “It’s a Little Too Late” by Tanya Tucker, her original song, "Broken Hearts" and a duet with Clarkson to “ Rockin’ With the Rhythm of the Rain ” in Monday's final performances.
Her impressive performance helped him bring home the win to Team Kelly Clarkson by claiming the most votes of the top four competitors of the season on Tuesday.
The fourth place went to Team Hudson’s Kennedy Holmes, with Team Shelton’s Kirk Jay coming in at third place and Team Shelton’s Chris Kroeze the runner-up.
This marks the second win for Team Kelly in two consecutive seasons with 15-year-old Brynn Cartelli winning the Season 14 of the NBC series.
