IN THE ABSENCE OF A BABY BOY

Kobe and Vanessa have been hoping to conceive a boy to add to their all-girl brood. It would be great to have someone Kobe can train to follow into his ball playing footsteps. This doesn’t mean though that he hasn’t already. His daughter Gianna is proving to be her father’s protégé. The 12-year-old is currently a member of her school’s basketball team. Under the guidance of her father, she’s been showing the same “mamba mentality” the NBA legend possesses.

KOBE'S POST-NBA PURSUITS

Since retiring from the NBA in 2016, Kobe has been devoting his time to his family and other endeavors. He ventured into filmmaking with his animated short, “Dear Basketball” which is based on a letter he wrote when he announced his retirement. The film won an Academy Award in 2018 for Best Animated Short Film.
