Olivia Newton-John Proves You Can Find Happiness at Any Age by Becoming a Bride at 60
Who says you can't find love at any age? Olivia Newton-John had a secret wedding at 60; ten years after, it seems to be working out so well for her.
The talented actress and singer married John Easterling in 2008; according to her, he showed her a new world where she could be happy and sexy at the same time. Of course, Olivia never knew this world existed before her husband came along.
A few years back, the mother of one, talked about how she found love with her Amazon CEO husband at a time when she wasn't looking for one. And just like a good movie, she found herself doubting it was all real. In the interview she had at her hotel room, the Grammy award winner said:
"These are my best times; I am enjoying wonderful freedom. I never thought I'd be saying this at my age, but I do feel happier and sexier than ever. A lot of good things and bad things have happened during my life, which has been a roller coaster. But there is no better time than now. "
When it's true, it just is; this was the couple's watchword when they eloped like teenagers in love and went ahead to marry in an intimate Incan spiritual ceremony in Cusco. No guest, just the two of them; the only person that knew was Olivia's daughter, Chloe from her first marriage to actor Matt Lattanzi.
Olivia acted in the comedy blockbuster, "A Few Best Men," where she was nothing but fantastic interpreting her role on the show. The funny actress starred as the mother of the bride, a cantankerous character one must say.
Knowing someone for over 17 years without any inkling that it could be more than that, but one day you wake up and realize you want to spend the rest of your life with this person. That was what Olivia sounded like explaining how they came to be a couple.
"I had never thought of him that way, and he had never thought of me that way either." - Olivia
A month after they tied the knot, they finally announced to the world. This came as a huge shock not only to friends but even family members.
Although it's not all rosy, it is worth it. One of the many challenges they've constantly had to face in their relationship is John-Newton's battle with the terrible disease; cancer.
This probably tops the chart when it comes to how much they've had to endure. In 2017, Easterling told the media that his wife's breast cancer had recurred, but they are doing everything possible not to give it breathing space.
The cancer survivor and her husband decided against telling anyone because they wanted the day to be about them. They will not have to worry about their guests and every other detail that wouldn't matter so much. Most importantly, they didn't want to forget who the day was about; themselves.
Olivia's new approach to life is one of no worries.
"I no longer worry about every little thing and have changed my attitude completely. It has taken my whole life, but I finally worked out what it's all about." - Newton-John
