49ers star Marquise Goodwin and wife reveal they lost their much-awaited twin boys during pregnancy
NFL star, Marquise Goodwin and his wife, Morgan, recently revealed that they lost their twin boys 19 weeks into the pregnancy. The unfortunate incident occurred one year after they lost their first son prematurely, also at 19 weeks.
In a YouTube video, the “San Francisco 49ers” star and his wife disclosed for the first time that they found out Morgan was pregnant again during training camp but decided to keep it secret because of their history.
“We experienced another traumatic event in our life that we had to overcome. It was tough at that point of the season,” the couple began.
"God blessed me with a wife as courageous and resilient as Morgan. The pain (physically, mentally and emotionally) that she has endured is unbelievable.”
Just before the 49ers’ November 25 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Marquise, 28, was told that his wife was experiencing complications. The NFL player wasted no time flying back home to Florida to be with her.
A quite subdued Morgan, 25, narrated the unfortunate turn of events.
"In November I experienced preterm labor, and I was having contractions, I was in and out of the hospital and placed on bed rest,” she said, adding:
“That one game when babe had to go to Florida… I ended up getting hospitalized again and I was on bed rest. I woke up at 3 a.m. with contractions that were really bad and rushed to the hospital. They were so bad my water broke. My doctor said there was no way the baby could survive from 19 weeks all the way up to give birth if the water is gone.”
While the amniotic sac for one of the babies had ruptured, the other was still intact, so Morgan underwent surgery to try and save them. Sadly, “Baby B was still good, but Baby A wasn't,” she revealed.
Morgan added that the doctors were trying to do a delayed delivery, but even that did not work out because her sac had been ruptured during surgery, a possibility right from the start.
Marquise was given two weeks off from the team, and his absence was explained as a personal matter. Meanwhile, Morgan said she “finally had the courage to open up and talk about it.”
The 49ers Wide Receiver added:
“We're taking it day to day and comforting each other and doing different things to keep our minds busy.”
The almost 14-minute long video also contained gender reveal footage that the couple shot before their tragic loss.
In November 2017, Marquise and Morgan lost their son just hours before the footballer scored a touchdown against the New York Giants.
Marquise’s heartbreaking caption on an Instagram post after the game read:
“Although we are hurt, I am grateful for the experience and grateful that God blessed me with a wife as courageous and resilient as Morgan. The pain (physically, mentally and emotionally) that she has endured is unbelievable.”
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Goodwins as they go through this challenging time.
