DETAILS SURROUNDING BROWN'S ARREST
According to Closer, Brown was arrested in Paris after a 24-year-old woman claimed he raped her in his room at the Mandarin Oriental between January 15 and 16. They met earlier at the Crystal Lounge nightclub on Champs Elysees. She also accused Brown’s bodyguard and another unidentified man of abusing her that night. Both were detained along with the singer.
FREE WITHOUT CHARGES
Brown was in custody until Wednesday when he was released without charges. However, investigators are continuing to look into the case. Apart from aggravated rape, Brown was also detained for drug violations. The woman disclosed there were cocaine and cannabis in his hotel suite where a party was being held at the night she was assaulted.
BROWN'S COLORFUL HISTORY WITH THE LAW
The 29-year-old singer who’s a father to 5-year-old daughter, Royalty, and is rumored to be dating Instagram model Ammika Harris, has had several run-ins with the law in the past.
Prior to the Paris incident, he was arrested in July at Palm Beach, Florida for felony battery charges stemming from an incident in April. According to the police, Brown punched a photographer in Tampa after taking photos of him.
In May, a woman sued him for sexually assaulting her in his home. His lawyer, Mark Gregaros told reporters then that the allegations were untrue and that his client was merely being targeted.
Brown also pleaded guilty in 2009 for assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Rihanna. He was sentenced to five years probation. In 2017, another ex-girlfriend, Karreuche Tran was granted a restraining order against him.
This is just a few of Brown’s instances with the law throughout his career which continued to flourish despite the allegations.
Should he be found guilty of rape by the Paris courts, he could be facing up to 15 years in prison.
