Wendy Williams’ crew reportedly furious after allegedly being left in the dark about show’s future
Nick Cannon’s first appearance as a guest host on the “Wendy Williams Show” reportedly raised the eyebrows of some members of the staff.
Williams has been taking some time off the show since the December break. Even though there was a lot of speculation about her decision, she revealed on January 18 that it was because of complications from her Graves’ disease.
Graves’ disease is an autoimmune system disorder that causes the overproduction of thyroid hormones, also called hyperthyroidism. Its more common symptoms are anxiety and irritability, tremor in hands and fingers, weight loss, fatigue, among others.
NICK CANNON’S CONVERSATION WITH WENDY
Cannon, who has been Williams friend for a long time, was the host of the show recent episodes, wherein he revealed a private conversation he and the 54-year-old lady had.
Things got a bit emotional as Cannon has also been outspoken about his struggle with Lupus, an autoimmune disease. He talked on the phone to the whole family and said they were all good and that the love and passion “is still there,” which is what Williams needs the most during this time, he said.
Cannon pointed out that Williams felt people’s love, but also realized there were several unanswered questions. The man said that with autoimmune diseases “you live day by day. You one day could be a strong day, and the next day you can’t get out of bed."
Finally, the man admitted that Williams told him to have fun but don’t get too comfortable because she was coming back to the show. Some members of the program reportedly were not pleased with Cannon’s words, though.
WILLIAMS COLLEAGUES FELT IN THE DARK
As Daily Mail reported, some of her longstanding colleagues didn’t like that she left them “in the dark” on the matter as they are not sure about the future of the show and they rely on the paycheck.
Some of them, whose identities were not revealed, even called Williams a “hypocrite” for what she did.
"I mean, please. She has made a fortune from tearing people down. However, when it comes to her own life, it's all a secret. Imagine if this was another celebrity living their life like she does. She'd be sipping the tea and talking about it on ‘Hot Topics’ every [expletive] day. She's such a hypocrite."
Apart from that, Williams staffer allegedly claimed there was a different reason for her absence, though she had kept that a secret. The person was also upset because Williams picked up the phone for Cannon but wouldn’t tell them “what’s going on.”
DOCTOR OZ’ THOUGHTS ON WILLIAMS’ CONDITION
Cannon is not the only celebrity who has spoken about Williams’ condition. Doctor Mehmet Oz, who has his own TV show “The Dr. Oz Show,” admitted that he was praying for Williams and pointing out that Graves’ disease was a “problematic issue.”

“It doesn’t always get better quickly and in a predictable way. It’s an autoimmune problem where your body’s immune system is irritated, and it starts to wage a war against itself including the thyroid gland. So, you have to cool the civil war down — that takes a long time … it can take months, sometimes longer.”
So far, Williams has not set a solid date for her comeback to the show yet.
